Roddy is not about trying to get this in the newspaper, he was just telling it to a group of club members.
And one of that group of club members is telling it to the YF forum, where it will be picked up by the media and used in an anti-Terry or anti-Ricki beatup (SKINFLINT GREEK ON BRINK OF LOSING WONDERCHILD), thus shaming the Nix into paying up more. Either Roddy knew that you or someone else would go blabbing, in which case this is a grubby attempt to twist Terry's arm; or he didn't, and he's naive, and you're not helping.
To put it another way, if you'd said "this is what I heard, from a trusted source which I can't name", then we might not have believed you but it might not have looked so dodgy.
Obviously you dont know Roddy at all mate so i think you should keep your thoughts to yourself before misjudging his character. As for the marco issue, i wont be posting any more news due to the reaction.
mate if you were this kids father and you were talking trash about the cojntract he'd just been offered what would your motivation be? think about it, if he didn't want a better offer he'd not be moaning to you about it. I'm sure he knows you're a YF forum member - if I was Marco's dad and agent and some YF person was taljking to me about my kid of course I'd be thinking that getting you rarked up about Marco's contract would sneakily put pressure on the Nix.
Even the nicest most honest person in the world will do what he can for his kid - if the offer was only essentially an extension of the existing contract the fairness really depends on how long it's for. Someone has to realise that marco has only started in the last half of the season, yes he's been an inspred pick, but he's got to bide his time before he starts demanding the big bucks.
