In regards to Marco and NZ/Chile I don't see the need for debate. If he wants to play for NZ he will and likewise for Chile. It's not like he doesn't realise that playing for NZ now will mean he can't play for Chile later. And if he really doesn't want to play for NZ then he will reject any callups, it's not like he has to play for us if Ricki selects him.

I don't think it's case of being first to 'lock' him in.


Well I agree that he probably won't get a Chile call up, but it should be noted that just because he plays a friendly for NZ doesn't mean he can't then play for Chile later, so long as he is under 21 when he played the friendly for us. To 'lock him in' he would have to play a senior international match in a FIFA Competition (eg OFC Nations' Cup, World Cup etc including related qualifiers).
