Hypothetically ( I don't really have any idea what they are on) would you rather have Big-Mac for 100k or Smeltzy for 400k? I get the impression we will have to shell out quite a bit for him. Not saying we shouldn't because I don't know who else would be available, but he's not the type of player we need at the moment.
Smeltz has scored as many goals as Dylan in 9 games this season, 12 games less than Dylan. And it was not like GCU were scoring lots of goals and Smeltz chipped in, they only scored 1 more goal than us this season. 47 goals in 74 HAL games.

Do you have how many minutes they have played and how many penalties? And how much better should he be doing if he is 4 times more expensive? I don't need to be convinced that Smeltz is a good player btw. I actually think from a stats point of view he was probably more prolific last year.

Ok, according to data from their profiles on their clubs websites:
Smeltz averages a goal every 140.4min and a goal every 5.7 shots. Not including the 11 goals from pens, Smetz averages a goal every 183.4min and 7.4 shots.
Dylan averages a goal every 276.2min and a goal every 11.3 shots

One thing Dylan is better at, he averages an assist every 662.8min while Smeltz only averages an assist every 1100.2min.

Edit:
So, not taking into account pens, Smeltz scores 1 in 2 and Dylan 1 in 3. Over a season of 30 games, Smeltz scores 15 and Dylan 10. Taking into account assists, Dylan averages about 1 in 7 and Smeltz 1 in 12 so that is about 4 assists to Dylan a season and 2-3 for Smeltz. So Smeltz is involved in 17-18 goals a season and Dylan about 14 goals a season.

Edit again:
I should add I think Smeltz is by far a better player.Bullion2011-02-17 15:34:26
