I'm sick of this argument "I'd rather win the league than sign New Zealanders." For the sake of wasting spots on 'squad' players from overseas why not bring in a couple more young New Zealanders.
The club's name is New Zealand Phoenix: yes/no/shutup?

By saying that you're suggesting the name is Australia Phoenix. Who says the New Zealanders can't be from Wellington? If you look at our past squads every year there has been one or two squad members who don't even feature, so why can't they be young New Zealanders? Andy Bevin and Sean Lovemore.

Slightly reasonable response.  You're still putting words in my mouth.

If a player isn't from Wellington, I don't care if he's from Perth or Picton.  He just needs to be good enough.  (If it wasn't for the cap on non-Antipodean players, you could extend that out to Plymouth and Porto Alegre.)

By the way, this isn't a parochial sentiment.  Settling young players is a difficult business - less so if they're living in their home town.
