Yes maybe in Rubles. Google tells me a Ruble Billionaire is worth about $NZD21m
Richie McCaw owns a chopper or two, but I don't think he's worth $NZD1,000,000,000
Let's not get caught up on guessing the net value of Meyn's net worth but surely we can get together on the fact that he's a seriously well resourced fella. And fair play to him for achieving that.
But let's look at what has happened here. A FIFA backed organization has made what looks like, at face value, an 'outlier' of a decision of where to award a licence where money is involved (Qatar/Russia world cup anyone?). Given FIFA regional bodies form in these matters let's keep our eyes open.
As you are a fan of google take a peek at 'Oceania Football corruption' and see the upcoming trial about how the officials enriched themselves on a project.
While you're googling, you also might find it interesting how Vanuatu signed a 'pathway' agreement with Christchurch United earlier this year....great to see them so engaged with pacific football and surely just coincidental timing.
At best Christchurch have played the game better here & Dome & Co have displayed a degree of naivety. Not all football decisions come from tallying up a spresadsheet. At worst....well who knows.
Lately it feels like the club keeps tripping over itself with every step it takes and maybe that in the end was the reason they looked elsewhere.
