It is very strange. Maybe there is hope he may be back NZ bound for football?

Auckland will rise once more

Fantastic rumour you’ve started there. 1% chance is still a chance!

60 mins (Leiria losing 1-0) in a 2-1 loss. One of 3 guys subbed off at 60 mins.

30 yr old Aussie Anthony Carter (had a season at MAC) the winning goal for Alverca. He's played most his career in the Portuguese 2nd tier.

Leiria down to 9th, 7 pts below the promotion spots.

Wonder if Chief has been on the phone to him? Not setting the world on fire in the second tier…a home country reset could be the way.

He scored 2 goals only a few weeks ago for Leiria. Why would he want to leave Portugal so soon? With 4 goals (from only 10 league games), Singh is actually Leiria's 2nd equal top scorer this season. I'm guessing he's got another niggle.

Shaun Gill said last year they did contact Singh but he made it clear he wanted to perserve in Europe.

If he does return to the ALM, it will be to the new team in his home town. Auckland also chatted to him last year, but apparently he wanted more than they were willing to pay. That must rule out the Nix.

I imagine Singh will keep plugging away in Europe for a few more years yet. Leiria sitting 9th, are still a chance of promotion. 6 pts off the playoff spots.

Must be someone who can translate Portuguese and source an interview on the squad selection for the week with the manager.

If he’s not clearly dominating this league I think he should look to come back to the A league, build up his strength, get some love from the fans and go again. If he gets a solid base here or Auckland, then maybe he can look at the Belgian or Dutch leagues?

He looked good at first in the Bundeliga 2. Here the goals are a clearance in the face, a pen and fox in the box stuff. Great strikers goals, but not sure if he’s the same player who ran our team at club and for the AWs.

Can the money in the Portugal second really be that good?

Anyone seen any match reports? Is he setting the tempo? Getting on the ball? Do players breakout from this league?

Though also has he taken a non- football honeymoon? Or is he injured?

After missing last week’s game comes off the bench at HT in a 1-1 draw

Leiria down a goal at HT

On at 71 mins (Leiria up 2-0) in a 2-1 win. Leiria 9th, 5 pts off the playoffs.

Seems to have lost some momentum after scoring a double in a game, on 5th Jan

If true that he had a week off recently due to his wedding in mid season, that wouldn't have helped.

Singh off the pine at 78 mins (1-0) in a 1-0 win.
Apart from that 2 goal game 2 months ago, not standing out as you'd hope at this level.

Leiria 9th, but only 4 pts off a promotion playoff spot.

Singh subbed on at 61 mins (1-1) in a 3-1 win. Mafra did have a player sent off at 77 mins (1-1).

Leiria sit 8th, but only 4 pts off a promotion playoff spot (3rd). 8 games to go.

At least Singh is playing football pretty consisently. That is in itself a major plus. Promotion to the Portuguese top flight would be nice though.

Good work Niche Cache. The goal assist is pretty meh. But is two different peach passes in the other brief highlights post the goal.

Only a really bad ball bounce in the grass bare goal mouth stops the lovely lob leading to a goal. And then the last pass highlighted leads in to the Mafra defender being sent off. Leiria convert that pen to make it 2-0.

Nice Singh signs.

Singh on at 59 mins (0-0), as Leiria get a 91st min winner, for 1-0.

Leiria up to 5th, only 3 points off 3rd (promotion playoff spot). 4 pts off 2nd spot - automatic promotion.

Here's hoping Singh and his mates can crack the Portuguese top flight. 7 games to go.

Yes on early in the 15th min and with the assist not long after to take Leiria 1-0 up

Unfortunately they go down to 10 men late in the first half, and then concede twice post 80 mins for a 2-1 loss. Winner in 112th min

Their promotion hopes damaged the last 2 weeks by red cards

Leiria's promotion hopes fading fast. A 3rd consecutive loss.

Singh off at 68 mins (0-3) in a 1-3 defeat to Benfica youth.

20 yr old Aussie Paul Okon jnr off the bench for Benfica II

Leiria (8th) travel to Pacos Ferreira (15th). After 3 consecutive losses, Leiria's promotion hopes look dashed. 8 pts off the playoff spot (3rd) with 4 games only left.

Singh's contract expires in June but looks like there is an option for a 2nd year at Leiria. He has 4 goals, and 3 assists in 19 games.
If he's happy in Portugal and the club want him, he might as well stay. At least he's playing and after his bad last few years in Germany, that's improvement enough. The World Cup will be a shop window.
