Unless the redevelopment involves kicking cricket out and turning the Basin into a rectangle then there's no way on earth it will ever be a suitable venue for football.

Romanticising for a minute though, turning it into a rectangle with a 15,000 - 20,000 stadium on it is a very attractive idea that would suit football and rugby perfectly. However, it would risk turning Westpac Stadium into a white elephant and there are far too many old-school cricket-heads around who would be crying about all the tradition and history at the Basin that would be lost.
