Lia??  Who the heck slipped over, again, cost the team possession, again.

That's right, the defensive unhinged door, Steve O'Dor.

I'm sorry, but the bloke can't stay on his feet, the ball wasn't great, but the boy couldn't even stay on his feet to at least contest it.  Just like another game where he tangled up with Christie.

If Cleberson and George (rightfully) can be shown the door, so can this bloke.  The Nix defended well with a 3-5-2, given what Juninho threw at them, as soon as he came on to make it supposedly more secure with a 4-4-2 it was a free for all.  When O'Dor is out there, all communication is lost, and inevitably the ball is easily turned over and the team goes onto the backfoot.

Worst player in A-League history, sadly, because at times the Nix have played some great footy, but due to O'Dor by my count they have lost 4 HAL points at least.

Only because they get distracted by how ridiculously good looking he is.. why do you think he keeps breaking his nose? Accidents? I don't think so.

+ he was playing for Daniel and it was Old that got sent off..

Thanks mate, we all needed a bit of a laugh.

Viva la Nix.

Nothing could make me laugh right now...

Old got red carded.

I'm hearing you Drewy, but for not the first time this season, O'Dor couldn't even maintain his balance to at least contest yes a poor pass, and that gave Bling Bling all the momentum.  What does the bloke have in his boots?  Ice, because it sure as hell isn't sprigs, he's the least sure footed player I have seen, in any grade of football.

Yea perhaps but I blame Old for the loss.
He shoulda left him. Mossy wuld have had it covered or he would have skied it like they were doing all night

True, Moss was incredible.  Absolutely incredible.  There was a bit of lack of faith or an overreaction from Old, you are right.

Agreed too, that was an emotional rollercoaster which no other sport can provide, I can't describe how gutted I am. The whole game I was thinking there is no way rugby cor any other sport can  compare to this... that's what makes me so gutted about not winning though, because I know to convert the average kiwi to football winning is all that matters. Despite my angry comments above I think the team did great and tried 100%

If you look on the good side, to draw against Sydney with no AWs and no Elrich is pretty damm good

Folks, a bit of perspective.  While we're gutted, lets remember that if the blooper hadn't been right at the end we'd have felt differently.  Taking the positives:  we managed a draw with half the side away + showed real committment.  I thought Felipe had his best game for some time, Rees was a revelation, Alosi stepped up, Ferante was reliable etc.  And then there was Moss.  Phoenix site says shots were 18-9 to SFC.  I reckon that if offered that outcome at the start we'd have taken it.  Could've been worse.

Yeah I agree with you Pacwarior but it doesn't make it hurt any less.

On a lighter note I thought Felipe played really well today. Him, Aloisi and Moss were the best players today I think. Had a few tricky touches and would've probably scored if it wasn't deflected. Coveny worked hard too. Actually, the whole team worked pretty bloody hard. Just feel so gutted for them really.

We're still very much in the hunt for top four. After this round, we can't be more than six points off 4th place (regardless of the outcome of the other matches). We have a game against struggling Melbourne and then three home games...it's not all doom and gloom.

That was effectively the last hurrah as far as a spot in the top 4 goes. Great attitude, great organisation, great determination, but yet again undone by inexperience. At the moment I'm really p*ssed at Lia but his mistake leading to the goal was just symptomatic of a weakness we've had all season - the guy had an excellent game otherwise.

Pray for Perth to lose!

Aloisi's Goal was almost exactly the same as his last one v. Perth

Old showed his inexperience totally, that was dumb, though hard to resist. You just have to let him have the shot Mossy would have had a pretty good chance of saving it, much more than with a penalty because he would have narrowed the angle. What a crying shame.
Mind you if you look at the saves Moss made, we were lucky to draw!
The good points: Felipe and Daniel both lift each other's game; Aloisi led by example; Rees did well; Covs had a damn good scrap; Ferrante looked good.
The subs? I shook my head when both centre midfielders were taken off. Looked like Johnno was limping, but Ross should have been left on.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Yeah, we do seem down on our luck.  Jets, Mariners and today were all home games we coul have won.  And then there was the home town ref last week.

To try to cheer everyone up, I'm going to postca true story about another stuff up on a new thread.  Stay tuned.

Well, if it's true he wasn't injured then that was a very odd sub.
Permalink Permalink
over 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
They subbed two strikers on for two midfielders, since after that red card we were constantly on attack but seemingly scared to take shots.  Bringing forwards on theoretically was a move towards snatching a second and sealing the game, and it didn't backfire - we just had another defensive brain explosion in the dying minutes.

I'm gutted that we didn't take the win, but a point is better than nothing and it remains that neither Perth nor Sydney have ever beaten us.  Moss had an outstanding game and Rees looks like he deserves to be in our back four.  For a game with many of our star players away/suspended, we did remarkably well - it still doesn't make me any less gutted to see another game snatched away right at the death.

f**k. Am totally gutted after that.

I may get sh*t for this but right now i don't care. Steven Old why the hell did you pull Bridges' shirt you muppet!!! On that angle with the form that Moss was showing there is no way he would of found the back of the net but instead you made it so simple for them by being a twat.

Right. Apart from that I thought we were alright, rode our luck on occasions but you make your own luck remember. Was glad to see that Popovic cnut sent off he deserved it after his attack on Covs.

Mossy, where do I start. What a performance!! Hands down best performance of the season by a keeper i'd say i mean how many saves did he make in the end? About 10, and they were pretty much all top class too. Felt so sorry for him when the pen went in, nothing he could do about it.

I know a draw ain't as bad as a loss, but it sure doesn't feel that way right now.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, Popovic should have got a straight red for the elbow on Coveney.  Especially since he compounded by going after him like a mofo.  I don't get it, Elrich gets sent after Seo does his best Kevin Costner impersonation for something I still haven't seen an elbow for, it's blatantly obvious Popovic elbows Coveney, yet he then gets a second yellow for something that was totally innocuous.  Some of the inconsistencies are baffling really.

How great was the save from Moss on Brosque's header?  Wow!

nerve wracking game, sydney far more threatening 2nd half when juninho moved inside

no doubt said before (i've only read this page - apologies) but lia's crossfield pass was not what we needed!!!

but, for a team with 5 first team regulars out that was a class performance

MOSSSSEEEEEEE! genius! absolute blinder!

Rees is an truly excellent signing on  tonight's performance - great anticipation, strong, reads the game well, and decisive

great first half from johno, and Aloisi might have silenced a few detractors tonight!

Aloisi appeared to pull his hammy about 3-4 mins before he went off

replacing both Johno and aloisi - surely wouldn't have been a part of the grand plan (though to be fair Ross had really worked his butt off - injury or not)

good game alround, even though Mossy was busy we needn't fear sydney when they return on jan 4

Curious to know, did others think the Rudan trip on Coveney happened inside the box?  I was livid, I thought that was a deadset point to the spot moment rather than a free kick.

From what I saw , Aloisi appeared to feel a pull as he went for tackle in midfield.

It looked like cramp or maybe  a hammy, but he was destined to be subbed after that.

True - I yelled "penalty, ref!" and the replay seemed to show that but Cov didn't argue so I assumed he knew.

Yeah i think so too although it's hard to say it was pretty tight but initial reaction was 'YESS PENALTY!!!'

Popovic did absolutely nothing for the second yellow, Daniel went down like a dying swan.
The linesman clearly signalled that there was no foul - the referee decided that he'd seen something.

But the elbow was worse than Elrich's.

I agree, dont see the point of giving away such a blatant penalty. Moss would have been more likely to save the shot than the penalty.
