Regardless, basing judgement of an A-league signing off what EFL league they play in is silly anyway. There are so many factors that affect a players most recent career move that aren't always about their talent. I can think of quite a few league one players who are certainly better than players on the squads of Championship sides, but they're playing below their level due to money, proximity to family, being a guaranteed starter, recovering from injury, etc.
I think also the fallacy of the A league being lower championship/upper league one in the UK has finally been laid to rest.
More like lower league 1, upper league 2.
Signing players from that level is fine.
I don't know, roughly 5 years ago (give or take a couple of seasons) we were signing guys like Ball, Wootton, Hooper, Taylor etc.
Its quite an important position, and for a visa player - its fair to have expectations on the players ability.
Yep but Ball, Taylor and Wootton were all knocking about in league one.
And Hooper had only played six games in the previous championship season.
