I am not sure if the arrival of hype and coverage of A-FC is actually eating into any previous coverage of the Nix.   We always had little if any TV coverage.   

If the hype around A-FC means more coverage for local football (rather than constant banging on about EPL whenever they needed to give football some token air time), than it is a good thing.  It would not make Wellingtonians fly to Auckland to attend the A-FC games instead of attending the Nix game, but may improve overall awareness of local ALM football.
