I don't think the club and Welnix will be happy with the current situation. They had a taste of real success last season. A sell out home semi final, and 3 very nice chunky player sales. They want that again.
From that great season with a first year coach, they would have thought the club model based off a strong clear Academy pathway, supplemented with good visa player recruitment was the way forward.
The reduced APL annual disbursement to a $500K pittance, was a blow (as it was to all the clubs), and probably restrained their new player spending plans. And with the 3 chunky player sales, who knows when that will happen again (could be 10 years or more), so you can't just go out and blow all that cash. Plus alot of that dosh will come in til later as add ons anyway.
I'm sure Chiefy's been told there must be a marked improvement now until season end. He knows. Lets hope there is.
But yeah Harper has no idea comparing the Nix to Auckland. Welnix are wealthy but they are not Billionaires x2. Plus they are almost accidental football club owners. Stepping in last minute to save their local football team. Very different to sports mad Foley, who seems driven to spend his final years assembling a cabal of successful sports teams worldwide. Money no object, and he's very driven to win
