The Nix did offer Elliott a contract, but he delayed signing it as he wanted a gig overseas. The club lost patience as they wanted to plan for the following season, so withdrew the offer. No overseas gig materialised for young Callan, and he found himself without a club for 6 mths or so, before his fizzer of a time at Motherwell

Seemed that the Nix partly made an example of him, as a warning to other young players and their agents they won’t be strung along forever with negotiations. Fair enough

In Elliott’s defence at the time he was the only one of Des’s 2019 U20 starting 11 not playing overseas. So I reckon that played into his mind. Now of course he has Pijnaker with him in NZ

Yeh, particularly after Scrappy Do went to Newcastle and then went overseas which was a bit messy or something.

Yeh as everyone is saying plenty on both sides of that and we’ve got 4 fairly decent candidates at FB these days, if Lukas K-H is still operating at his best.
Edit: 5 with Mr. Xuan Loke signing! Now I remember him having an impact off the bench in a cup game.

But maybe he could have moved back into an attacking role or a midfield role. He’d be good at pressing high up and it’d be a good challenge to see if he could run an attack from a 10 or wide 8…

Don’t blame the club or him at all- just irks me to see him in blue and black!
