I wouldn’t phrase it the way Orange dude has at the end, but kind of agree with him close on 100%.

Chief has limited resources. He’s got two guys who’ve had pro experience and put in good shifts for the team before.

Ball I can somewhat understand that he might not be able to perform as well as he could. I would have faith in him holding the ball and drawing a foul in the last 5, but I’m not watching him in practice, so maybe he’s really dropped off? Feels like we might have  benefited from his experience in some of the games we’ve butchered late.

We’ve also had issues scoring outside Kosta. He had one season where he produced fewer assists and goals. And as a fan I was keen to see him get form back. But perhaps Chief is prioristising athleticism and defensive shape or some such.

OVH though I’m really struggling to understand. As has been said he was effective off the bench last season. Almost the same number of minutes as Cola I’d guess and a bunch of points can be attributed to his efforts.

Chief has had him for last season and now the off season and has suddenly discovered he can’t play?

If so it’s a failure to use the resources he has at his disposal. If OVH can’t even make a squad he must be either a) unfit/injured b) disciplined for a reason or c) worse than the other selected players.

I can’t accept it is c because I’ve seen our games. If it’s a or b Chief should be telling us.

Long story short, we can have all the tactical plans we want, but if Kosta is our only consistent goal scorer we’re going to struggle.

It’s hard to accept given how toothless we are off the bench and that given how much time he’s had that all he’s discovered is that he doesn’t want two of his more experienced squad.

The kids who had a breakthrough last season were already well in the mix- Paulsen, Old, Surman …and the newbies in Sheridan, Conchie, Supyk and Hughes got limited minutes. Lukas Kelly-Heald was a glorious exception who got a lot of playing time.

We’re getting to the point where Chief has to play players because we haven’t got anyone else. That doesn’t seem like careful youth development.

Add to that Van Hattum was part of a reserves team with Rufer, Paulsen, Surman and Old, and that I’d almost expect him to be developing a bit of leadership within the squad with the others either gone or captain.

I don’t understand the way these guys are being treated given how limited our squad is. I’m also looking north at Callan Elliot and seeing a perfectly good player who fell out with the club for one reason or another.

If there’s a brilliant plan, such as large numbers of players coming in January, let us know what it is. Otherwise…

Edit: Christ I’m glad this isn’t a management forum based off the number of posters who are willing to flush OVH’s professional career. He has never been a dribbler like Old, but he did well for us last season winning us points on multiple occasions. You’re contending he should be finished as a pro footballer because…

Watching Chief faff around this season with Piper, Payne and Colakovski up front, none of whom contributed sfa as a 9, I think we definitely should be at least be demanding to hear Chief’s rationale for what he’s doing.
