Or as Air NZ puts it, they’re doing us a favour because if seats were reasonably priced there’d be none left for last-minute purchasers (I wish I was making this up).
There did seem to be more in-your-face legalese with these tickets about “we reserve the right to fiddle with the prices and no we won’t refund you the difference if the person sitting next to you on the day gets their seat for less than what you paid.” Or maybe that’s always there and I’ve been too busy beating the “you’re about to lose your spot” timer to pay attention.
