That's the first footage i've seen of the red cards. Gillett = Useless!!!

Also, first view of Daniel's free kick...OUTSTANDING! Deserved a far better result than it got!

Anyone else hear Miles Davis having a go at YF for doing a thank you to Terry? Radio sport this arvo. Basically said that Terry only did it for his own benefit, he only did it with other people's money. That YF should not be celebrating Terry's contribution and that if Terry hadn't done it someone else woould have stood up.
I know his job is to get debate going, but really.

Davis must be a f**king Marxist then because he is basically complaining about capitalism. A little bit unfair to pin that one solely on Terry.

[QUOTE=Oi Oi Edgecumbe]That YF should not be celebrating Terry's contribution and that if Terry hadn't done it someone else would have stood up.

I remember following the story very closely at the time and that just isn't true. It was actually getting very f**king embarassing for all concerned that no-one in New Zealand could get their sh*t together at all. NZF and FFA were almost totally focused on finding new owners in Auckland but the silence up there was deafening. In desperation they extended the deadline 3 or 4 times and were probably only days away from walking away from NZ for good. John Dow and Ian Wells had been running around Welly practically begging people to get involved for a good 2 months before Terry finally came in. Absolutely would not have happened without him.

I would have said Tim Brown's first touch after that cross was more useless, if he had buried it just inside the left post with his first touch, he would have scored.

The thing that annoys me most about Miles rant is the naive comment as though he is the arbiter of how we should feel about the situation.

We know the facts quite possibly better than Miles in his Auckland isolation and people have made their decision about whether they feel it is appropriate. It's not Naivety, it's an informed decision based on facts, just because it doesn't tally with what Miles or the West Ham fanbase would do doesn't make it wrong.

Miles has taken 1 too many hits to the head.
Every chance he gets he'll take a swipe at Terry.

He's just jealous because the oval stadium that we are tenants in doesn't have a running track.

A variation of 'Stand up for the Phoenix' that might better work is:

Stand up, stand up, STAND UP!
Stand up if you're [two nil*] up...

[Repeat]

[*Change to the score as appropriate...]

I think the "...for the Phoe-e-e-nix" part of Stand up for the Phoenix doesn't scan well for repeats. I've heard West Ham and Nottingham Forrest do the "...stand up if you're two nil up" version and it has a really good rythym to it, and the repeated "Stand up, stand up, STAND UP" is pretty unambiguous and hard to miss for the not-inclined-to-normally-stand-up types.

Cross posted in the New Chants for 2010/2011 thread for discussion...

Hasn't Terry always stated that it was his personal money that he was sinking in to the Phoenix? Sort of null and voids the whole argument about spending other peoples money, as their (contractors and the like) gripe would be with his Companies owing them money not Terry personally.

Tell me if that is wrong. I could be one of those naive feverites that fella was speaking of.

Some are calling dibs on Terry's clothes, I'm sure they would love it if Terry still had the 8-10million he poured into the Phoenix.

Edit: Should add I am very happy that Terry took the risk to start the Phoenix. Bullion2011-10-19 16:01:36

Apparantely Terry got assaulted at the races, and was carried off unconcious.  Hope he is ok.

Wow, Terry's broke and still can go to the races surrounded by a bevy of "female companions". And you know he can't afford to pay for escorts any more!

Hahahaha i was waiting for this to hit the forum. I'll start by saying this - Ive always been a fan of Terry's and defended him through all those hard times, but not anymore. I was one of the accused 'cowards', and my mate, whos also a well respected businessman, was the 'muppet'. All i did was get in between himself and Terry, take a slap to the face for my troubles from one of those girls, lost it a little bit by calling her a f...ing w...re, and then get accused of stomping his head in and whatever else. So in short Terry lied about the whole thing, and Police have already figured that out.

Youre right though, what was said shouldnt have been said, but the guys just lost my full respect though for lying and implicating me into it all for trying to break it up. He threw the first punch, and deserved what he got in return. It was 1 vs 1, nobody else was involved.

I think it was kinda obvious he was spinning shit. At a race day event, and a 5 v 1 gang bang stomping happens and no one does anything and the cops don't care? Yeah right
