Michael White did NOTHING for Waitakere, very ball greedy and a lot too light weight

White did nothing for Waitakere?

He scored a blistering goal in his first ten minutes on the field for them.

You say he didn't pass.  Maybe.  How much of it was him coming in to a settled team, and the team not knowing how to make best use of him?

Light weight, maybe; fast, yes.  And fast guys do tend to get tripped up by defenders (ask Totori).

Would you have him as one of your three U20s in the Wellington Phoenix.  If not, who?

No I wouldn't.

Apart from that goal, the rest of the time he spent on the pitch he was very wasteful, and the Waitak players sent the majority of the time shouting aty him, especially Utting and Hay.

I'd have Brockie, Spoonley and Edgington

You said "the Waitak players sent the majority of the time shouting at him".  I noticed that too, but was that their problem as much as White's? - hence my comment - they didn't know how to make use of him.

And Utting shouts at everybody, anyway!

Wasn't Utting's miss of Jordan's relatively weak shot in the Oceania game poor?  Why does Cain keep playing him?  Simon Eady's much more consistent.

From what I saw, maybe im biased being a defender myself, but he wasnt reading the game very well. His crossing was poor to say the least and every time he got the ball he dribbled.

Maybe it was that he wasnt incorporated into the team properly or maybe he just didnt give a sh*t, theres many reasons but he didnt do enough for me to say he's awesomely good

Yeah re/- Elliot I think we could get a younger Mully for less and he can play midfield - also proved a great freekick taker.

Why are we talking about Jonathan Perry Antz? NOOOOO!!

And Steven Old at right back, that has flat on his ass looking stupid written all over it!  I think the areas we need to go for imports are fullback (right or left), attacking/creative central midfield, left sided midfielder, goal scoring striker.  Preferably at least one south american...

I think Ricki's post tour comments show that he knows the limitations of some of the players he was forced to take to South American.

As I think we should line up.

GK - Paston
RB - Pritchett
LB - Lochead
CB - Bunce
CB - Tambo
RM - Hickey
CM - Mulligan
CM - Brown
LM -Import
ST - Import
ST - Covney

Would Perry do any worse than Hay/Bunce have done recently for the All Whites?

Pritchett ?  god help us... He was a half decent right winger but how on earth he has All Whites caps at right back I have no idea.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Thought Pritch looked half decent in Japan against pretty good oppo.

you hit the nail right on the head there,

Is it so important that we get bogged down with the birth place of players in the first season. NO as got to be the answer, we need to get through the season and finish with a strengthened reputation and the respect of the other A-league teams.

Once we have established these two key areas we can then start to look at where we ideally want to develop the future of the squad from.

In time i am sure that Ricki and the backroom boys will look to develop feeder teams to supply the fever with the up and coming talent that we are going to need.

Buffon, i guess you`re on the subs bench as well. Looks like a case of multiple personality disorder.

Its a shame we have already missed out on the likes of Salley and Leilei. But there are still plenty of playrs out there without contracts.Realistic marquee targets should be Shengqing Qu and Benito Carbone. Qu had a great debut season in the A- League and Carbone has been in talks with various A- League clubs after being class for Sydney FC. My pheonix lineup would be.

                                                       Paston

              Oughtoun                        Gibson                     Mulligan

                                                      Vicelich

              Johnson                        ??????????                 Ferrante

                                                  Qu or Carbone

                                     Yan                       Coveny

It would be GREAT to have the likes of Marcina (if availiable), Chris James (if can secure loan deal) and a quality import to fill the central midfield role.
Reserves: Moss, Lochhead, T. Brown, O'Dor, B. Fisher, Brockie, Byrnes, Bertos, Bazeley
U20 players Spoonley, R. Brown and Barbourousas.

Really youu want all your imports to start, and Bazeley is crap anyhow, theres NZ'ers better than  him!!

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Ok i can concede Bazeley, and of course the starting line up could chop and change. but i rekon the personell in that squad would be more than competitive in the a- league.

Seems  a very good lineup,  but I have major doubts about getting them. Would be fantastic if we did!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
For sure hopefully the managements pockets are deep enough to secure talent like that. I mean nz soccer cant afford another failiure. so if its time to invest in good players itd b now!

I know he's getting old but if Damien Mori isn't with a club then I think he'd be worth having a look at. He was brilliant 4 the central coast mariners and the roar last season.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah I agree, if we'r  struggling for goals hes the man  that can score some, e ven if he is like 36
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Would rather have Carbone ahead of Qu easily.

Three for me, and two for them.

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Although this is all speculation anyway I can't really see Carbone coming here to boss Courtenay Place...

Damian Mori for some reason wasn't as good at Queensland as at CCM.  He's not really going to pull the crowds either...

Someone wants Mori!!!

How many times do i have to f**king say this!!!

HE'S TOO SLOW, TOO FAT AND TOO OLD!!! GIVE IT UP!!

Three for me, and two for them.

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah but if he can score who cares gigi?
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Precisely, he can be as fat and old as he wants but if he scores more than a skinny, young guy who cares how much f**king fast food the guy has?!
