I hope the buzz around the womens team shows in an increase in spectators. People need to get along to watch them.
Are they mainly playing at Porirua? Dome said its getting too expensive their. Newtown park would be good.

Yep all home games are at Porirua Park, except for the double-headers with the men:

Sun 8 Nov v Canberra at Sky Stadium
Fri 6 Feb v Perth at Sky Stadium
Sat 14 Mar v Brisbane, venue TBC but rumoured to be in Christchurch

8 Nov is their first home game of the season, so hopefully Macey's home debut (if you can call it a debut for a returning player).

Was she homesick or is she the female version of Joe Champness? More worried about clicks then football?
neither. Just wanting to play more basically.

Her interview after re-signing and socials are public - people don't need to speculate.

Really sad news, hoping her a swift recovery and that she works through whatever she needs to. Was looking forward to seeing her play. Guess that Auckland prank didn’t help.

I doubt the prank has anything to do with her taking leave. She would have seen the humour in it. I feel like this could be a Chloe Knott situation all over again 😢

It's a situation sadly not unusual for young female footballers.
Wisnewski & Whinham both took some time out, and have been open about their struggles.
Anna Leat left agruably the world's biggest women's league in the WSL and kicked around as an outfielder for awhile this winter at Hibiscus Coast.

Yesterday's damning report on the ALW said  “financial insecurity” was “alarmingly high”. Short one season contracts, players paid less than the minimum wage. 62% juggling part time work and football.

Hopefully Macey returns after the break she needs.
Really nice to see Wisnewski doing so well now in Denmark, and close to being a locked in Football Fern selection now.

I guess this is the pathway to play for bigger clubs overseas. Wonder why Fraser came back to this league when she’s good enough to play and get better pay somewhere else.
Seems like female footballers in the A League feel like it’s too much of a chore to play, and the fun is being sucked out of the game for them…

I hope she gives social media a break or at least certain pages, a lot of UTP comments seeming to tease her in news of this.

The fact that she is taking time out for mental health is a good thing. Regardless of the reasons, that we must remember are hers and hers alone, lets cheer the decision as a positive. As above Grace and Alyssia both have taken this kind of break and it has proven a boost for both. I hope Macy is back soon and better than ever.

Podcasting through it.

Sad to hear. Get well soon Macey and hopefully we see you back in a Nix shirt soon.
Cant be easy as an AL female player. The wages are abyssmaly low. Unfortunately the AL is in a dire financial situation so there is zero chance of an increase soon. The Nix are one of the few clubs who are supporting the womens game properly.
In Europe there is plenty of noise about mental healthy in the womens game. One significant factor is the impact of toxic social media. Many young women are just not prepared for the exposure they get as a pro footballer. The recommendation is to back off social media and just focus on yourself and your team mates.

She was getting given grief across all social platforms - first Port fans posting the vid, then Nix fans getting all worked up about it and tagging her in it.
I dont think most people realise how intense it gets having your notifications absolutely blasted with negativity but it could take a real toll, particularly on a young player. Glad to see the club has backed her to take some time out - reckon deactivating all her accounts would be the best thing for her MH though
