Good to see Van Der Meer has signed with Auckland United so will be playing some NZ domestic football. The players need to have a break for a while. But its a long time still till ALW starts again. Which is probably November.
NPL NSW Kiwi girls in the goals this week. Pritchard with a hat-trick in a 6-1 win to get her off the mark in NPL NSW. That will no doubt give her a shot of confidence.
Kelli Brown with another brace for Mcarthur Rams. In a 6-1 win.

Club intent has always been to sign a VISA number 9 however she wants to be a regular starting number 9 at a club not stuck behind some import or stuck on the wing out of position like the entire last season.
“We spoke with her and her father at length on a number of occasions but nearly a month ago now we were advised that she would not be signing with us and would be exploring other options.”
The young striker played primarily on the wing in her first season with the Phoenix, but Gill said she wanted guarantees regarding which position she would play, which the club was not willing to entertain.
Temple has previously signalled his intention is to look overseas to sign a proven goalscorer after the Phoenix scored just 20 goals in 18 games last season.
She was mucked around a fair bit last season and living in Sydney slightly more attractive than windy welly I'm guessing but only time will tell if it's the right move. In fairness more players move to European sides out of aussie teams than they do with us so maybe she has a plan. Raw talent and ambitious maybe so good luck to her. Temple is right we need a renown/reliable goal scorer if we want to be successful...but are there any willing to come down under or cross the ditch?! We need to spend the cash if theres some there.

Well we are about to see some of the best female strikers strut their stuff downunder. There will be some hidden unknown gems especially in the lower profile teams. Those playing in NZ, will be under no illusion about the possible weather in Welly come an ALW season! But for those coming from the likes of Vietnam, Haiti, Zambia etc a pro contract anywhere might be grabbed with both hands.
If anything this Clegg move shows that she is ambitious. At 17 / 18 happy to leave home to pursue her dream. A first experience over-seas, but close enough to home. No doubt she will one day want to get a contract in Europe so first step on that journey I guess. Kat Smith the WSW coach has a very good reputation over there. Tom Sermani also involved at WSW (although he would not have coached Milly). I wish her all the best. The more NZ girls playing in the A league the better.
Seems odd to sign a contract a week prior to the world cup - if she was expecting game time she could've left herself open to a bigger move offshore? each to their own though.
Any other young guns in NZ or do they all shoot over to the States?
It'd be interesting to know what they offer was financially.
Maybe WSW paid a bit more than they would normally have offered knowing that if she shines in the WC then she may be worth way more in a couple of months.

get injured in the wc and then struggle. If there is enough interest, she could be sold by wsw I suppose

Hannah Blake would be a good shout also. Was a young gun, scored goals at age grade world cups just like Milly Clegg & Kelli Brown. Has recently finished her States side studies.

Imagine any new young talent will come via the academy as they’ve always said they will promote from within.

The Liberty A-League will kick-off on the weekend of 13-15 October, with the women’s campaign to be extended to a 22-game regular season as a result of the addition of the Central Coast Mariners.
I know its not WWC but there are other comps in progress. NPL NSW. Kelli Brown with another brace and an assist this weekend.(Must be 20+ goals in all comps for the Rams now) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB0SnM3mZiI Makes team of the week along with Rebecca Lake. Be great to see Lake get an A League contract. Be a very good option for the Nix especially if Taylor moves elsewhere. image.png634.34 KB
Now that the relationship with NZF has finished - a relationship that seemed to have a big youth development focus - a few 'older' NL players like Lake to be signed up??
