Our head 2 head with Melbourne City is dire to say the least with City winning all 8 encounters.
but you know what, we only need to win once for it to count!

Just another first to add to a season of firsts would be rather approriate to do it in a GF.

Mel City's defence is pretty solid (Stott and co). They are hard to score against as Mel Vic found out in the SF. Couldn't put one past them in 180mins.
City have often won by the solitary goal this season, so they aren't streets ahead of everyone else, But that old saying defence wins championships.
Final games are a different beast though. Pressure in a one off match can make a massive difference. If we can score first and put them under pressure, I think we can win this.

We have been the two best teams all season, and quite even overall so I wouldn't expect this final to be much different. They of course had two more games they won than us being the difference, while we had a better Goals For and Against.
There record at Aami Park this season was 3 wins and 1 lost (1-3 to Jets) 7 goals for and 5 against.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

We need to watch that Jets game to see how they did it. Was their first win over them as well.

Its so nice to read Wellington Phoenix and Grand Final in the same sentance. 19 years is a long time for a club.
One think about the final is that in AAMi park the atmosphere wont be a problem for the Nix. Its a huge cavern of a stadium and City are known as "no fans united" for a reason.
We can match them but i think there will be only one goal in the match. Whoever scores first will be quite capable of defending a lead

Statistics never lie and Wellington Phoenix have never lost a Grand Final.

Looks to be an AFL game starting at the MCG at the same time, so I'm guessing that will make things a lot busier in the area!

Four Kings on Taranaki Street is the usual (unless something big clashes), but if your schedule allows for getting out to Lower Hutt then the club are hosting a watch party at Fraser Park (look for Ricoh Sports Centre on Google Maps).
Details of the event and how to RSVP are in their Facebook post.

The two teenagers have scored six goals apiece in breakout seasons and were instrumental in their semifinal victories last weekend.

I’ve found myself in Auckland for the week, does anyone know where might be playing the game up here?

We are definitely the under dogs for this game. But all the Aussie pundits on A Leagues Dub Zone podcast are picking a Nix win in the final.
That worries me.

The only option I've found is Schapiro's in Eden Terrace. It's not listed under 'Live and Loud', though, so it might just be a screen tucked in somewhere.
Not ideal but better than nothing, I suppose.

Really concerning to see Pia with an icepack and limping after injuring her ankle again in training. Really hope if she isnt up to starting they give Macey the start instead.

Very concerning.
Good that TVNZ actually sent a journo to cover the game as they easily could have asked their Australian correspondent to do it.

Yeh that's really concerning. TThey won't start Macey. Not sure what's going on there.
It'll be Anthony and Leon.

Any decision on yellow/black stripes or the black away kit? Both men and woman Nix teams wore the black away kit in the league fixture vs City but think the stripes would be fine.
