Outplayed by a very good Mariners side I'm afraid. Mind you, that Nunn shot goes in off the underside of the bar and it could all have been different.
Yeah I think we made plenty of opportunities but the force was not with us tonight. I do question taking off Leon and Vlok not starting Wood.

I don't think we ever adjusted to the pitch, passing was often woeful, even Fraser joined in when she came on.

CCM can still finish above us, and also do us a favor by beating Canberra on Sunday. We may play them again before long if we don't finish top two.

If we can get back on track this weekend with a win over WSW, then a draw at Adelaide may get us top two.

Pijnenburg was our best player, I thought she did a lot of good stuff in the middle. And Esson of course, who kept us in the game longer than we deserved.

Too easy to just blame the pitch, honestly thought Bev would have them fizzing for these 3 games given whats at stake. Really disappointed not for the first time this season with some of our passing and  option taking.
Also whats happened to that rock solid defence they have well and truly slipped from their previous standards.
Im just hacked off that yet another Phoenix team looks like they may have failed to take advantage of the position they were in towards the end of a season.
Club needs to get someone like Enoka or Eastwood to  get into their heads

Agree re. Pijnenburg.  Couldn't see what Bev saw in her for the first few weeks.  But she's stepped up during the international window and for Phoenix women since coming back, seems to be able to receive the ball, turn on a dime, glide away and find a pass.  Class.
football tragic for too long

Pijnenburg was the most effective player on pitch for the ferns vs the island teams, was good to watch. Really happy she's brought this form back with her. As good as Vlok is, needs to find a way to be more effective on and off the ball when the game isn't going her way. Nunn was still class as always. Fraser not at her best, but given extended time off, to be expected - free kick was magic though.

Thought Nunn had an unusally bad game. Perhaps too eager to try show up her former side. Lots of running down blind channels when other options were available, taking an extra touch or two, and I'd like to see the wide angle but seem to lose her playing for the first goal.

I thought Pijnenburg wasn't that great. She's still seems timid and she turned the ball over that ended up with the first goal (there were other errors in that goal) - under pressure she just tried a premeditated pass that was easily intercepted. CCM's midfield put us under pressure.

I thought overall they played poorly.  Passes over or under hit.  Whole team looked underwhelmed.  I'm not a fan of Nunn who seems to do things in her head which don't reach her feet. Nice shot to hit the bar though. Woods has scored the odd goal but quite lazy,  poor first touch and to often gives the ball away with constantly being caught offside. Doesn't do the work Anthony does.
Was great to see Macey Frasers Goal of the Season, Messi would have been impressed.  She is still not fully match fit but she will improve exponentially.
Vlok unable to make an impact because the pitch wasn't suitable for close ball players (Macey Fraser included).
Hopefully they will bounce back this weekend.  Still it has been a great season for them so far.

At the same time it seemed she was targeted for the roughest of challenges, and given how soft a lot of calls were, her opposite should have gotten at least a yellow

That was all a bit disappointing.  Need a big response on Sunday if we are hold onto second spot.  Too many overhit, underhit, missed passes, offsides didn't help.

Was so happy for Macey Frasers goal, just amazing.
