Speckmaier needs to find the back of the net and tell us shes a reliable goal scorer.
Hopefully no premediated decisions from Temple this week and we play out the game as is.
Newcastle been all over the place results wise and will be beatable. They did manage 4 goals last time out so it wont be easy. At home we should be fine.
Newcastle Outs are pretty significant. They have been riding a high having Emily Van Egmont the last month. I remember in season one, our young squad looked like they were in awe of EVE, and she took full advantage, we lost 5-1 I think. So hopefully they are on a hangover now Van Egmont's 2023 guest stint is finished. Melina Ayres is also out. So we just need to gang up on Sarina Bolden, and this time make sure she leaves Sky stadium, never wanting to return.
LOL. Im staying at the rydges wellington and just had an extremely arkward encounter with 2 of the jets players down the elevator. I carried one of their bags and we had a wee chat..
Expect we might see Breslin come in for Elliot to start. Elliot has had her moments but can be a bit inconsistent for me when it comes to ball retention. That'll make it tough for who makes the bench. Cox, Elliot, Brown, Robertson are all kind of wingers.
Jeez our defenders need to be much quicker shutting down their shot takers. We've had a few good moments up top but the Jets look much more likely to score.
2-0 up at HT. Fantastic. Only crit is that Foster in mid field is not quite coming off. I'd almost swap her and McMeekan as Zoe seems just a bit more mobile and quicker at tracking runners.
Really good first half. Warmed into it after a shaky start.
Could argue we should be well and truly out of sight at H/T, but what I've seen from the Jets, there is absolutely nothing that scares me in that lineup. Nothing really clear cut and they've been restricted to shooting from distance - if that's the case then it's going to have to be something bloody special to beat Rylee.
Hopefully a few more goals for our girls in this second half as it opens up with the Jets chasing the game.
Glad I've never been injured while Feliz Navidad plays in the background
That was a horrible moment (the injury that is, not so much the music). Underlines the pschological effort and bravery of Foster in her long road back into the game from spinal injuries.

Really enjoyed that game, probably should have locked it down earlier, but it was certainly entertaining with lots of quality. Fraser, Longo and Speckmaier are stars. Barry, Lake and the keeper barely put a foot wrong. Taylor was good too, probably best Ive seen her play
PS I thought Cicco had a great game for the oppo too
Seemed like a decent crowd for the game. Was great fun to watch. Only thing i could complain about was all the goals were down the end away from the fever zone. But 2-0 win was awesome
Calling all fans in Japan, come down and support the mighty nix in Osaka
Probably depends on what that means for keeping the US college door open
From the very little I've seen, she has the talent and ability to forge a pro career, rather than commit 4 years to youth football in US. But you can never begrudge players if they choose the US college path for education reasons.
Another player that I rated from previous seasons was Mona Walker. Can fill in at CDM and CB. That's where we need depth. She maybe didn't get that many opportunities under Lawrence, but always looked at A league level. Could do a lot worse than bringing her back into the squad.
Better from everyone this week. Nothing looked premediated and the game was played out as it developed.
Still would like to see Speckmaier score from open play more, bot to say shes been poor because she has toiled well in every match.
Longo got better as the game got on and good to see her playing out the 90.
Macey Fraser creates everything we'd be stuffed without her lets be frank. We will do well to hang onto her she will be overseas soon. Could get some decent money for her.
Lake played extremely well she looks like shes assured up the back line. She was best on park for me.
Sydney another patchy side this season....we could get 3 points.
That was one of Longo's best games for us in my opinion. Just so determined to make a difference. Speckmaier is such a terrific outlet up front, brings everyone up another level. Great to see Meeks back getting time and adding her speed and confidence to the team. Despite our big injuries and withdrawal of Knott, the squad have taken it all in their stride. Big ups to everyone involved.
