Did they film it?
AkCity FC At The FIFA World Club Cup
Cool but what 2 Kiwis in the starting XI. Hmm. Wish Ramon would start developing kiwi talent
3 isn't it? Payne, Williams, Vicelich.
+ de Vries and Tavano.
Really? That's crazy. Only 3 AW eligible players in ACFC?? No wonder they've stopped with the 'you're an Aussie club' thing
Dont believe everything 2nd Best tells you!!
5 started which I concede is not enough...... but is on a par with Phoenix most weeks
One would think a national league team should have more local players than a professional team.
Big difference between local players and Imports!!
A local player can be someone from another country who just happens to want to live in NZ, pretty diverse society in NZ now or hadnt you noticed?
Fair point by Brick... but only if those said players were residing and playing in NZ prior to getting picked up by Auckland. If they were brought out the argument falls apart somewhat.

Didn't realise De Vries was eligible for the AWs. So guess you can't sit on a high horse if it is the same as the Phoenix then.

Hence the local and Import difference.
Tavano is not a local.
Tavano is not a local.
Or remotely talented ...
Tavano is not a local.
Mexican imigre hombre
Greasias compadre
Tavano is not a local.
Umm, Tavano's been in NZ since age 12 which kind of makes a 20-year-old a local by now. Andy Milne is also a local now having been here half his life, Sammy Burfoot becomes one next year, likewise David Browne. All three aim to be All Whites. I think Burfoot and Browne could certainly make it. Both just missed out by age in qualifying for the NZ Under 20 world cup side.
Of course JV if you're saying only a NZ born player can be a Kiwi then you're right. Otherwise you're just full of proverbial. Something like 40% of Auckland is now born overseas, but I don't suppose you've noticed. ACFC is developing a raft of future NZ football talent.
De Vries is also a local now. That makes nearly half the ACFC squad NZ born or resident players.
But please don't let the facts get in the road of a good old anti-ACFC rant. Just like a certain Australian-born Phoenix defender, namely Andrew Durante, who is now an All White but according to your ethnic profiling JV he's not a local either. If Albert becomes a resident NZer is he too not a local by now? What about Krishna?
so when is the first game?
Will be an interesting competition with both ACFC and WSW in it.

ACFC play the Moroccan champions at 8.30am on the 11th (Sky Sport 1). WSW may not be going because of a wage dispute.
Don't worry, the ASBP is well represented at the CWC, even if the A League spit the dummy.

you just couldn't resist could you..?
You really do make it fudgeing hard to support you guys.

Umm, highly paid A League professionals players reach the prestigious Fifa Club World Cup to play against the champions of Mexico and then Real Madrid (if they win), but have a tantrum because they want more prize money, isn't spitting the dummy Tegal? I call it pathetic. It makes the A league look like a bunch of mercenaries.
ACFC's players mostly have full time jobs, train five nights a week and are jumping out of their skin to play in the CWC, and have never let NZ down. The club has always been generous with the prize money to the players and dips into its own pockets to compete in the O League but there has never been this sort of nonsense from players who make a fraction from playing football compared to the WSW players.

Typical response JV, ignore the fact your dig at ACFC is factually corrected and instead drag up some silly immature notion of being "trolled". Par for the course but it is very boring.

From afar I find this ACFC/Nix thing childish. I would have thought that football was the winner and the fact that both are from NZ the important thing.
Perhaps Leggy's greatest ever post.
No it's not JV, but never mind. It's too difficult to explain.

ACFC are the reason Chuck Norris and Richie McCaw exist don't you know.

Are you saying for a well paid A league player it's only about the money?

Don't you ever get tired of being such a grovelling YF brown-noser JV, it's kind of sad.
Hilarious.
Just because JV supports the majority view of the New Zealand football public rather than your tiny myopic minority he's a 'brown noser'.

You're right, just because one team plays for 'free' (yeah right) then the rest should just accept what they're given. Did you even read up on the topic before using it as a completely random and uncalled for dig at my innocent question of interest about when the games were?
* the CWC isn't in the CBA, so it's open for negotiation
* the club don't have to pay the players a cent, by the same token the players don't have to play (they will, I'm sure they're looking forward to it, and the club need the money - something will be worked out).
*the club offered 10%
* players point to Adelaide who set a precedent with 50% when they competed
* the club flatly refuse to negotiate
* WSW set to net just $2500 for all their extra playing/work. Compare that with the $22000+ auckland City players are reported to have received in the past and you can see that it's fair that they're upset - it also means you should get off your high horse.
* WSW getting offered 10% doesn't even come close to every other team at the competition. Including Auckland City whose players have received 40% of the clubs winnings in the past.
So GGF and think about how your bs may actually stop people from wanting to support a NZ side in the competition. We should be working to grow the game, not acting like a Twit and potentially turning people away from it.

What about pride in representing your country and club in a prestigious international tournament when you're a highly paid professional to begin with. That should count for nothing? No side has ever threatened this before, it's ridiculous. What's the average player at WSW getting anyway - A$250,000 a year (plus Asian Cup bonus). Maybe only getting 10% of the CWC prize-money isn't generous by the club, but threatening to walk out is like Ashley Cole bleating because he was only offered 120,000 quid a week and others were getting more at Chelsea. In perspective it looks terrible.
Money should not be the sole barometer of everything and I can assure you it's not for the ACFC players going to the CWC. By the way the club hands nearly half of its winnings to other ASBP sides and NZF. It's not being the twit, but there you go.

C'mon BM, you gotta do better than this. Fire your next shot. This is fun.
See what you have done BlueMagic?
Before you and your team of fudgewits arrived this forum was over-whelmingly supporting City at this tournament but they rampant idiocy from you lot has driven people to start defending Wanderers, a team we can't stand.
Well done. Your posting has finally reduced the number of people supporting your club and local football.

The $20,000+ payment to players quoted was when ACFC won two games at the CWC in 2009 and got a double payment. If ACFC get to keep about 50% of its O league winnings, that makes it about $350,000. If 40% of that goes to the players (the rest goes to cover club costs to competing in the O League) that's about $150,000 which distributed amongst the squad would come to about $6-$8,000 each. So yes, for all the time and effort they put in, they're not there largely to line their pockets. But hey, don't let a bit of reality interfere if you're having fun.

Perhaps it's not me. But there you go, time to take a break. It's become boring again trying to introduce a note of reality. Bye.
