AkCity FC At The FIFA World Club Cup
Club World Cup Semifinals, Morocco, 2014 :
San Lorenzo of Argentina v Auckland City of New Zealand
Real Madrid of Spain v Cruz Azul of Mexico
Who'd a thought it? I mean, really?
ACFC now 4th best team in the world. At worst.
That team from the little old ASB Prem finishing higher at CWC than the team from the mighty far superior A-League...... Well I never!!!!
And there's King Ernie lauding his best performance of the season after a 1-1 against a team with 1 victory all season.....
21.19.3
Its our Catch 22 !
[ And thats some catch ! ]

Hopefully WSW will beat El Setif, cough.

Me too then they'll get a bigger cheque from WSW winnings, Oh no wait a minute......

Lol.
Only caught the highlights from this morning but very impressed with the result. Pro's v Amateurs, David v Goliath, great stuff! And the money that will flow not only to ACFC, but the rest of the ASBP clubs...well maybe not every club, can only be good for the game here.
Now if only that USD would dip to 70c so a bit more cash could be squeezed out.
I don't know if they will get a cut but I can 100% confirm Wanderers paid the entry fee.
FYI - Thanks Bricktop for focusing on how wonderful ACFC are, instead of not putting the boot into the Nix for a change (sarcasm in case you can't figure that out)
I think if the Phoenix and Wanderers have to pay the entry fee then they should rightly get a cut. If they did not pay an entry fee then they should not.
You can't have it one way and then not the other.
NZF paid NZF ...oh , but of course ....

so it seems if they paid or didn't pay you are not happy?

If you believe what you just wrote then you are dumber than I imagined you could ever be
think weenix getting a cut would be a but of a farce to be honest. Let's make sure the money goes to those who need it most.
Despite a NZ doing well we still seem to be whinging

You don't believe that if the opportunity for funding to go back to to the game which is going to benefit youth development (and let's be straight, the wanderers and Weenix are pretty much youth teams sans the 4 pros) is not a good idea?
Take some lipstick and write 'dunce' on your bathroom mirror then look in it.

No much better idea to give it to a pro club that has had over 11 Million Dollars in funding from FFA since its inception and will continue to get sizeable revenue from them.
why do you care - if they don't give it to the Nix NZF will just keep it anyway so it dosn't effect ACFC one little bit.
Way to ruin a great result lads.

So much this. I expected to come into here and see a whole lot of positive comments about the ACFC result. It's a wonderful result for their club and football in NZ. But instead we have this sharkstorm.
People squabbling over the money already. Using logic, a dangerous thing around here, but if you are not eligible to represent Oceania at the world club championship, then you are unlikely to get a share of the prize money.
People can squabble all they want. its already been agreed regarding money - who gets it and blah blah blah...everyone should focus on supporting the team in there preparation on thursday.

what do the numbers mean?
NZF deals the cards ,
looks at their cards,
looks at your cards , then tells you if you've won ......
BTW , bad news guy .....
Lazy headlining by the Herald again this morning, referring to the team as amateurs, which for my mind diminishes the achievements of the team somewhat and implies an element of 'luck' in the results.

That makes TW the 3rd best team.. Congrats to Auckland though, massive results

Or how it may sit with NZF for that matter....
"Regulation 5 : STATUS OF PLAYERS
3.1 All football played under the jurisdiction of NZF and its District Federations is amateur therefore all players playing organised football must meet the requirements of FIFA definition as provided in Article 2.2 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
3.2 Clubs are not permitted to sign players as Professionals. However, a club can engage a player who is a professional provided that the player does not play in an official match until such time as the player has reacquired his amateur status."

So NZF redefining the dictionary to mean amateur players can receive payment? Truly an organization of hidden talents...
I'm not taking a shot, just outlining why it is possibly written the way it is.

Here are the relevant rules relating to "expenses" and prize money. Can only assume that some clubs interpret 3.6 and 3.7 rather loosely?
"3.6 Any expense incurred through involvement in a match and the costs of a player’s equipment, insurance and training may be reimbursed without jeopardising a player’s Amateur status.
3.7 Players who take part in matches under the jurisdiction of NZF and receive an allowance for wages lost may also be considered to be Amateurs. Such allowance must be a fair and equitable proportion of the actual wages of the player, which have been lost.
3.8 A player may receive prize money resulting in participating in a competition without compromising his amateur status.
3.9 For clarity, prize money is defined as being a one off payment and is of a consequence of winning a competition or tournament. It is not to be construed as a payment received on a regular (e.g.: weekly, fortnightly, monthly intervals basis)."
Definitely a discussion for a different thread but clearly there are plenty of ways to bury payments within those clauses. I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with providing financial incentives for players - just a bit tired of people pretending it doesn't happen.
All bullshark, bleating, and politics aside, well done ACFC!

You are right, "expenses" under the rules could be interpreted very loosely. At least it is clear that ACFC players can share in the CWC prize money.
