I want to make a comment about our "Star"overseas players, that continually come up with all the excuses you can think of, for not playing for the AWs. I know there are genuine reasons sometimes, however, it seems, they are running out of options now, when are we going to see these guys playing for NZ, i think the fans are keen, but what about the players!!! Maybe NZ football should look closer to home for players!!, a good example is Daniel Ellensohn being bought into th AWs today, there are many more around the country, if they will only give them a go!!!
I was at the Phoenix game on Sunday, with a well known Ex-AW player, we had a great night, but it was a pity about the ref and the football that followed. Not many Fever fans there either, we sat them in the second half behind the Goal, hoping for one in the net!!!!!!. The QLD fans were a bit anti NZ, so i hope you guys give them stick in the return match.

Its never going to change i guess. I am not going to talk about club loyalties, the standard of All white opposition etc as we have gone over this a number of times. I am just going to mention about the geographic issue.

Geographically it is a nightmare. I live in London. Travelling back to Nz for a holiday is a 23 hour flight. Add on the stop over time. Time allowing to get to the airport and from the airport etc. You are looking at about 30 hours one way. Thats nearly a weeks work for some people. Then you have the 30 hours on the way back. That makes it 60 hours. Add on the fact that you are going to be kanckered with about a 12 hour time difference. It takes about a week to really settle in to the new time zone. But lets just say you have to sleep an extra 8 hours than normal to recover. There and back that is costing you an extra 16 hours. 76 hours in total. Add a trip over to vanuatu and airport travel time etc. another 4-5 hours each way.(10hours)  86 hours in total. Thats about 2.5 weeks work for most of us.  Long haul flights stuff your body up too, any niggling ankle injuries etc, even if minor. Your ankles can swell up for upto 2 days after, depending on the climate of your destination. The warmer it is the less chance the swelling will go down.

So basically they are mentally and physically tired, their body will be suffering 5% or more. So they are not going to be at 100% anyway.

For this reason alone. I don't blame them for avoiding call ups over the smallest issues. I am not saying it is right, I just don't blame them.
