Not sure where exactly to put this category wise:

Given the Nix now officially play in the ASBP, what are the chances of the table appearing on the front page underneath the A-League table to help create a bit more buzz/interest in the team and league.

I'll look into it. Biggest issue will probably be the lack of a good API to read the results from, it took me ages to find a good API for the A-League until Ultimate A-League offered the use of theirs to us.

I know this is an inelegant solution, but in the meantime could we perhaps take ascreen shot of the table at

http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/asb-premiership/ each Monday morning and post it as a jpeg on the front page under the A League table, with a hyper link to http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/asb-premiership/ ?

I think the visibility might be a good thing - it might get

(a) people going to the ASB Premiership page of the NZfooball.co.nz webpage, and

(b) get people going to games?

Just an idea to consider.

Would be good for profile raising, but in all honesty I'm intending to go this weekend because there's no A-League on and the WeeNix (rather than TW) are playing.

Slightly secondary is the LOLs that an NZ-based Oz team might attract walk up crowds to a local competition.

Not quite an API but you just need to include this script tag in the correct part of the home page and style accordingly:

http://www.sportingpulse.com/ext/external_ladder.cgi?c=1-4499-0-321894-0&pool=1&cols=1,2,3,4,7,8&round=0

Even better:

http://www.sportingpulse.com/ext/external_ladder.cgi?c=1-4499-0-321894-0&pool=1&cols=1,2,3,4,7,8&round=0&json=1

This gives you Played, Won, Draw, Loss, Goal Difference, and Points in JSON format.

This isn't any sort of officially published API - I just found it by looking at the source code for the NZ football website. So liable to change, etc.

If we can find a simple and accurate way we should do it.

If not, not.

sorry, didn't see your response earlier. This is not actually JSON, it seems to be some hybrid of JSON and html, which is bizarre.

I'll investigate if it's useable tomorrow  and implement if it is.

Not to argue for the sake of argument, but apart from the leading 0 that is JSON, it's just that the content that it sends is generated HTML.

And the soccerway widget Patrick? Is that worth investigating/pursuing as an alternative? Is it easier?

Just asking in case you missed that post too... not nagging.

It would look ugly sitting in the homepage, and I'm guessing  would be slow too and make all of our tests fail because the javascript would load fast enough. We go native or we don't do it at all (I'll make it work natively).

Some nice options above.  I'm glad I raised it if this comes to fruition.  Cheers in advance to those with the know-how to do this.

Patrick is in Aus for the next week or so, so I wouldn't expect it to happen very soon.
