Hi all,
I posted the article. Firstly, well done on the poster idea. I think it's awesome and grassroots word of mouth is a good way to get people there.
The point of the article was not addressed to anyone who has even heard of this forum. It is outsiders who have no idea of what games are like these days or things are as they were five years ago.
People rattle off excuses like ticket prices and poor form in the past. The team plays with no excuses, so should Wellingtonians.
I conceede you can argue with interpretation of numbers. But the numbers are researched and they are not that hard to find, club sites, ultimatealeague.com.au etc.
I don't see why we should be satisfied with the croud numbers when we are currently this good. Why can't a fan have reletively low level dreams of at least achieving the 'average' croud figures for the A-League. Do we really have such low expectations?
I still see a day where there is a local NZ derby and that will attract 20,000 as it does in Sydney, Melbourne and other NSW teams. David Dome said before that about 9000 is the break even point and that it is an exponential increase for the club after that.
The yellow fever and regular members (I'm a Yellow Fever member by the way!) are important, but in order for our club and NZ football to grow, every single ticket after 9,000 is just gold.
That's why I wrote it, that's why I said this week IS a final. Bums on seats. So I will stand by, with my name, on the opinion in the article and the numbers behind it.
Anyway, hopefully we get a good croud and a good win.
And now for the trolling... lol
