i suppose some of the problem is clubs entering teams above there ability in Bands. I know the coastal side beaten 15-2 struggled all last year to keep scores down from memory. And the Selwyn side beat 25-0 is there B side, there A side last year was lucky to keep opposition under 10. I maybe wrong and new players may have arrived at these clubs but what does CFA do, they have entered the highest available band in age group. No easy fix when you are strong. Maybe 2nd round games will give more indication of where teams are and mainland may adjust bands or risk losing players through disappointment.

I watched the SBHS vs Middleton Grange game which ended up 0-0. Shirley had most of the ball and attack just couldn't score.  8pm kickoff was a bit random, as well as the 35 min halves.

What do they do? stop recruiting would be a fairly good start. Wonder how their B grade teams went

They have several 12th (Div1) grade players in from other clubs that are playing down because they do not have an entry in 12th grade.

Doing well in 11th grade band A this year will get them a Div1 slot in 2016. That's when they will likely have enough players of the right age to fill the team, and sod the ones that are now no longer able to play down. Player development ? - yeah right !

well if they have overage players that's disappointing, and a joke. Says there's a problem with dispensations. Surely a kid cannot be dispensated down to a band A(div 1) side. Them cleaning up the grade will work well in their promotional work.

Remembering that 11th grade is still a "non competitive grade". Therefore when scores start blowing out, there should be steps made to change the one sidedness of the match- maybe add an extra player to the losing team or drop one of the dominant team, mix the teams up with maybe a few players of the stronger team playing the second half in the team getting walloped...

That was the directive from Mainland over the past few years but can't seem to find it in this years junior handbook...

Rangiora were up 2 nil at half time , St Bedes equalised. Rangiora scored their third goal near the end, seems like all games were close.

If St Bedes keep that up they will be kicked off the Number One pitch at the school, a long time since Football has been allowed to play out front.

god u blokes seems to be a bunch of whiners! Always ok for coastal or tech to be ruling the roost and " poaching " young players but as soon as another starts racking up some scores the whinging begins.. Just be thankful you have a group prepared to provide decent coaching and quality facilities, something clearly lacking in the region or are we all that short sighted and bitter! Nothing wrong with that in my eyes, in fact they need and should be applauded. I'll bet you all will be happy to have ya kids training and playing on their facilities once completed! Midnight oils " short memories " should be a fav for most of you lot

I for one am really glad that the schools are all playing each other. I think it is great, but then I played in the time of SBHS and CBHS being very strong and St Bedes and St Andrews next of the best. Also the time when you were defined by what school you went too. Amazed to read a comment that St Bedes played on #1 pitch! When they hosted NZ schools champs in 1997 (yes f ing ages ago), there aas a priest who left the boarding house for the duration of the tournament as he was of the thought that only rugby could ever be played on the #1 field. To digress a  young Jacob Oram starred in goal for Palmy North BHS.

Does anyone know what is happening at IFANZ?

A couple of days ago we had this - http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-f...

Then a check of their website shows that Allen, Padmore, Brown and Walker have all been removed form the our-people page on their website

Have you seen their pictures? To be fair they'll probably get more interest without those mugs on the website :D

If those 4 people have been removed from the page/company then I would suggest the company is being ruined by non football people not involved in the coaching. Being a football coaching academy and the quality of those coaches, if they are not involved anymore then I imagine IFANZ bosses will struggle very hard to find the same kind of calibre. No idea what's happening but it would appear some kind of fall out.

some kind of fall out could be an understatement. Will parents haul their kids en-masse? Some chose IFANZ over FTC.

I see there is a game on today at ASB today between a NZ Select X1 and the St Thomas First X1, featuring Ben Sigmund, & other former All Whites & Canterbury rep players such as Dan Terris; to promote the FIFA U20 World Cup. KO is at 1pm, I think

A few changes to 18s after 5 games played...

Hi Junior Delegates

Mainland Football have reviewed the placing of all 18th grade teams after the 5th round, and as part of our commitment to ensuring the best competition possible we have made the following changes

Div 1 – Waimak Black to Div 2

Div 2 – Selwyn 18th Colts to Div 1,

Div 2 - STAC 2nd XI to Div 3

Div 3 – MCUFC 18th to Div 2,

Div 3 - HU 18 Stars to Div 4

Div 4 - Methven FC 18 to Div 3

Div 3 - St Bedes 3rd XI to Div 4

Div 4 - CTFC 18 Gold to Div 3

All Divisional changes have been made with team moving up and down based on positions after 5 rounds, and also the carry over of points.

The tables online will be out of sync until after all teams have played their next game and will then show placing based on carry over points.

Great to see another UEFA A licenced coach in  Christchurch. Doesn't say what football involvement Brian has had since arriving in NZ 10 years ago. Quick google comes up with Papakura  City FC. Will be interesting having someone with same qualification as Tetso in an opposition Academy using the same facility at  Yaldhurst.
