If NZ qualifies to 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia he would have a great chance to be noticed by a bigger club in the championship or even a reserve EPL squad

So is there another age grade SPL competition? I just can't see him making the first team, he was helped by having a Scottish passport, youth teams are only allowed the one import I believe, so when he becomes too old he may have to come home.

Why would he need to come home if he has a Scottish passport?  He wouldn't be an import.

This is if he can't make the transition from the youth academy to the first team when he becomes too old to play for the youth side.

His family lives here. He comes back during his holidays. Obviously I wouldn't know what is plans are, but as someone alluded to above that he's not starting regularly means there is better youth players than Jamie? Not all of them will make the step up. It would be great if he could.

But as I've just read a post from above that says he's in an U21 league. Which means he has plenty of time left in Scotland.Luis Garcia2010-07-29 12:20:01

As well as the SPL, there is the Reserve SPL(for any player aged over 16) and the U19 League

The SPL changed the U21 league to a general Reserves league in 2004/5

Played full 90 in a 3-2 away win.At the end doris stayed in scotland as he has dual citizenship. But playing for the reserve team of a 3rd division scottish team seems a pretty low level. Title of this thread should be changed to Berwick Rangers.

Scottish Third Division is a pretty low level - but good enough for Glasgow Rangers - ha! ha! - how the mighty have fallen !!!
Doris could come up against (former) Glasgow giants Rangers if he makes the first team!
Notice mighty Berwick's first team played in front of all of  258 people away to Montrose on the weekend...wow, that's really poor!
Meanwhile Jamie played 47 mins for the reserves in a 3-2 home win against Gala Fairydean in front of two dogs and a seagull...
Didn't realise this, but Berwick technically are an English club geographically - the only club located in England to play in a Scottish league. Thus Glasgow Rangers played their first-ever Scottish league match in England a few weeks ago when they travelled to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Jamie Doris from Nelson seems to have been playing all season for Berwick Rangers reserves in Scottish Div. 3

Berwick came close to promotion to Div. 2 along with Glasgow Rangers by finishing fourth and making the play-offs - but narrowly lost the a way leg against East Fife from the Second Division on the weekend 2-1 after drawing at home in the first leg.

Berwick were only narrowly beaten 1-0 away by Glasgow Rangers ten days ago in a league game and drew at home with them back in August.

Reports on some of his reserve games (near the top of their league):

And just when a couple of spots had opened up in the U23s too.
