Haha no need to apologise, and good on ya for posting tabs! I was doing the same for TW's recent match using the play by play on the NZFC site. The things we do to follow football eh? lol

Maybe I'll see if I can tune into a New Cal station and see if my first year French is up to the task

Just an aside, I notice that Simione Tamanisau is not listed in the team sheet for Fiji.

Does New Caledonia have sanctions in place as well?

His employers refused to let him travel. I read that in the Fifa preview.   1 month to late eh.

We beat Fiji 2-0 and they beat Fiji 4-0. We probably are going to have quite a task on our hands when we play them next year. Mind you we were playing away from home against Fiji.loyalgunner2007-11-22 13:42:09

Away goals count double so in terms of goal differential, we'll both bet Fiji 4-0. But New Cal do seem to be one to watch out for, I'm looking forward to seeing them play the All Whites. In person. In Noumea. (If I can afford it...)

if I'm not too tired to think straight

New Cal can pick up another 12 points (6 are at stake v us), we are currently 5 points ahead of them, so if we pick up 1 more and share the points with them (either 2 draws or a win each) it'll come down to goal diff

so if we win at 'home' v Fiji (likely - but obviously not guaranteed) and share the points in our encounters with  New Cal we are through,

or we could just pick up 4 v New Cal (over two games)

or....??

We need at least another win and a draw to clinch it.

damn, that is so elegant compared to my tortured explanation

though in my defence, we could do it with just 2 points if those points came from 2 draws with New Cal and we had a better goal diff

etc etc

I'm actually hoping to go to New Caledonia is the All Whites - Fiji game gets scheduled there. Way I see it, if the NZF can't bring that match to NZ, then we should bring NZ to that match. I hope to be there wearing white and flying the flag I left at home yesterday, using my poor first year french.

I always loved "En depit des rumeurs, je ne suis pas canadien." I dated a Canadian a couple years ago and often our accents rubbed off on each other, so people often through I was a Canuck upon first meeting me, and she a kiwi. So I'd go "En depit des rumeurs, je ne suis pas canadien" and they'd go "Okay. French Canadian" '
