Looking back on the record books this was the heaviest defeat Coastal have ever suffered, so while the result does not read well not that bad overall in eight season's since the merger in 2008. Five semi's on the bounce is still an impressive record.

Yep just back from ASB Park, really well deserved win for the lads. In truth could easily have been 3 or 4-1, hard to recall Coastal having a shot on target other than their goal. Well done lads, bring on Broonie and the Cash Tech boys!

Great show and a great result. FC proved they are worthy of a place in the Prem league. They played football as it should be played; all players played exceptionally well. Glenn's men do it again. Can he keep these boys together for next year or will the vultures make a come back?

really impressed with fc tonight ,they were very dominant , looking forward to the final, as I think it should b a cracker. If we are being honest they could scored 4 or 5

Glen has got them playing good attacking football

I blame the Policeman who supervised the English Cup draw. Whilst Tech have had to see off 3 MPL sides to make the final, Coastal have struggled past a Div 5 side (Burwood) and a Div 1 side (Nomads) to make the semi. They simply weren't ready for a match against a good side like FC!

That and the fact that they were garbage and persist in playing 8 central defenders in the same team. Stroll in the park for the two FC play makers!

From an unbiased source at the game. I heard that FC got the lead, then went about parking the bus/lorry/cruise liner for the rest of the game.

But then, I wasn't there, so who knows. Anyone from Coastal with thoughts?

I'm not sure there was anyone there from Coastal, i sure didn't hear them if there was! Whilst my view isn't unbiased obviously, the "parking the bus" call certainly wasn't the case. As Broonie stated earlier, FC played a good brand of attacking football. We scored after 35 seconds and there was only one team likely to score in the rest of the first half and it sure wasn't Coastal. We certainly went off the boil at the beginning of the second half but after Coastal equalised (around the 65th minute) it was all FC from that point on. Admittedly Coastal chasing the game opened space for us to play but i don't believe even the most one-eyed of Coastal supporters would say we were undeserving or that we went about playing overly defensive football to secure the result. Indeed my biggest gripe for our team would have been that we kept trying to score more. We had at least 3 or 4 shots on goal in injury time when we should have been taking the ball to the corner flag and holding it there to secure the result!

Not from Coastal.

Your source was either biased or did not know much about football. FC were very organised in defense including their keeper. Good communication, strong and no fear. That does not mean they parked the bus. In fact the FC bus was more in the Coastal garage than in FC and FC should have won by 4 or 5. Sour grapes; I'm afraid. Coastal lost the plot and their discipline. They were owned.

Glenn must keep the young FC squad together and say no to those egos who left the club when it needed them. I hear some now want to come back and stand on the young one's shoulders. Stick with the squad Glenn; they're a great unit together.

Righto, I've let you have your fun, time for some feedback.

I agree that FC played well and deserved the win, they were certainly more up for it than we were. Not sure where the "only one was close to scoring in the first half" comment came from as there was a barrage inside of 60 seconds where it was cleared off the FC line 3 times by the keeper and defenders.

8 central defenders in the same team? What are you talking about?

I think all parties would agree the referee had a shocker. From putting his hand up the wrong way for free kicks and throwins, to some really random and late calls both ways. It appeared that the louder the players or croud cheered that would be the way he would give the freekick. Definitely not blaming him for the loss in any way just pointing it out.

I've got no gripes, still hurts actually not having a Coastal women and Coastal men finals day at the end of the season.

I totally agree the ref had a shocker. I'd love to show you a video (don't know how to upload) where the young FC keeper was blatantly shoved to the ground by the Coastal number 12. The ref waved play on. That was the beginning of the 60 seconds you are referring to.

Having played against both the FC 1st team and PDL side, I think 1 or 2 maybe from the PDL side could step up to the 1st team, but not many of them would make a marked improvement to the current 1st team. And that is what you are after when you go up, you want to improve the team, not stay static.

Selwyn Div1 had an initial squad of 20 to begin with, and some in the club looked at the side as being a bit bloated, but we had a run of 6 1st team players out at the same time at one stage. I don't think I am in a position to tell Glenn what to do seeing his team was promoted and Selwyn weren't, but a decent squad size to begin with I think is vital for them. I want to see them do well, as they are a very good footballing team and Glenn is a very approachable, nice guy. The 21 game Div1 season will have been a big help this year

Well done to Glen [cut his coaching teeth at Nomads and have gone on] and the Fc 2011 boys on a good season.

Will Glen be able to make his squad strong enough not to be a one season visit to the MPL?

Playing Coastal in a one off game and getting a result is not the same as playing a full MPL season, the slog it can be if near the bottom

will test the younger players.

I think they'll be right - bigger question would be - can halswell do enough and get some sort of idea so they don't get relegated next year.

Only games I saw in the Mainland league this year were Halswell vs Nelson and Tech vs Utd. How the hell Halswell stayed up over United, I have no idea. Granted, they were both woeful, but still

Could of gone to 10 teams MPL 2016, nothing between Halwell United, FC and Selwyn.

Still, best not to change rules midstream.
