Anyone have any info on Josh Ruckdeschel? Last signed with Lleida Esportiu in Spanish Segunda B (3rd Tier) in July 2015 but there's no mention of him on their website.

I see he has USA/SPAIN&NZ on his Nationality profile - that could be handy as an overseas vs local player

He is also a big lad with a Judo background - his video shows him passing nicely with the outside of both feet.

2000's Eastern Suburbs - Auckland (Wynrs too)

2012 Florida State Team (National Age Grade Champ)

2013/14 at ELON University (the Phoenix) as a Freshman - then he must have left?

2015 (August) - Genoa International School of Soccer - with Nic Del Moro - another Kiwi

https://www.facebook.com/issgenova/photos/a.295408...

Congratulation to Giss players signed with Lleida cf Spanish segunda B.
Bedridden Ryustemov 20yrs from Bulgaria
Joshua Ruckdeschel 18yrs from USA
Nicolas Del Moro 20yrs from New Zealand

After all my gas bagging - I see your point - after Lleida he disappears - not on their website team list - neither is Nic - hopefully just a visa or clearance glitch???   However, the Bulgarian guy with them above, B Ryustemov pops up on their transfers in page - wonder what is up with the Kiwi?

Hope this helps - or you already know this - good luck to Josh and Nick!

Ryan Feutz is back home training with Ole - until funds can be raised to send him back to Spain. Wonder if there is a scholarship he can get if he is talented and $ is the problem?

I am not a Guardian subscriber so couldn't get the full article - maybe someone else can?

Looks like more help is needed for our youngsters - NZF?

Difficult times at Spanish clubs, always struggling to stay afloat. Look at Huracan Valencia (also Segunda B), simply collapsed half way through the season, couldn't pay their players/ref's fees, etc. Believe all the foreign boys at Lleida Esportiu were struggling to get any decent amount of playing time; B. Ryustemov got loaned to Llosetense, another Paraguayan kid left for Italy, Josh Ruckdeschel transferred to another club (not sure exactly where but will post as soon as I find out) and think Nick went home to NZ.

Tough to break into the market, even with talent, appropriate EU passports and connections !

Sorry, don't know how Ellis Hare-Reid is doing but according to the Pro Direct Academy website, he's training with Malaga CF for the remainder of the 15/16 season (but you probably already knew this ?)

Last competed in Serie A in in 2012-13 season.

Current Italy internationals Immobile, Insigne and Verrati won Serie B with Pescara in 2012.

High-profile manager Zeman left them to coach Roma.

They've had six different managers since Zeman left in June 2012.

Current manager Massimo Oddo was in Italy's World Cup 2006 winning squad and played for Lazio, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.

A solid reputation for developing the careers of young players, means they have many young players on loan from the likes of Juventus, Roma, Sampdoria.

Currently fourth in Serie B and well on course for a promotion play-off spot.

They were living in L'Aquila when the massive earthquake hit in 2009 wrecking the city and killing 300.

L'Aquila is near Pescara and Luca's father is from there.

Here is an interesting NZ article about the Scimia family surviving the quake:

The Luca kid will be a shoe in for our next u20 side, if he wants to play for us.

Unlikely to be their top side, as Serb league still going, and Red Star(Crvena Zvezda Beograd) played a league game only on Sunday.

Still a big proud European club, and good luck to Mitchell.

Adam Mitchell played the first half for Red Star in a 9-2 friendly Charity match win in Kosovo against Gračanica (a Serb enclave). By all accounts he's performing well. No news on whether he'll be offered a contract yet though.

If you want you can watch the whole match here.

Also, here's an eye-opening article on the same fixture last year.

As an aside, Kosovo was voted in as a member of FIFA earlier this month, as was Gibraltar.

Has anyone heard how Lewis Tiller is doing at the Hammers?

How about Ollie Derlin at Borussia Youth?

Otto Ingham at Barcelona Futsal?

Man,  it is really hard to get news about players after the initial headline has died down and they move overseas.

Good luck to this lad, sounds like he not sure what he is getting himself into. Hope he is not expecting the warm weather to continue throught the winter as the hb  winters are nothing to complain about.

I couldn't help but laugh at "Kilkolly said it was in the mid-20C in Lithuania so it would be a nice change to beat the minus-degree frosts in the Bay mornings", especially after previously in the article saying how well he knows where Lithuania is. So he knows where Lithuania is, but has no idea it's freezing? Yeah right.

I'm not an expert on the country, but it's easy to know it's a bloody cold place: the average low between November and March is below 0 °C.

Good luck to him anyway, but let's hope he buys a few winter jackets before he freezes over.

Experience can help... clearly those in the know think he's worth a punt.

With proper fitness coaches, extra pace can be found.

Interesting move for him technically good player so should suit dutch style.  Had a look at the level he is playing at seams like an 8 team reserves league for teams who don't  have financial means to enter the U23 comp over there includes Pec Zwolle. This season all the big clubs have an U23 team playing in the mens divisions like in Spain with Barca B and Real B sides.  First division has PSV,Ajax and Utrecht U23 playing mens sides like RCK Waalwijk (Tamati Williams ex ACFC). Second division AZ,FC Twente, Sparta and Vitesse. Third Division FC Groningen (David Browne ex Pec Zwolle and ACFC) Volendam Almere.  With promotion relegation for the U23 within those divisions.  Seams like a great way to get younger players up to speed and playing mens football.

Article on Jamie Woodlock:

Supplied

Playing on the left wing for his Go Ahead Eagles Club in the Netherlands, Cambridge teenager Jamie Woodlock.

Cambridge teen Jamie Woodlock misses home but reckons he's living the dream playing professional football for the youth team of a club in the Dutch Eredivisie league.

The 18-year-old footballer played for Cambridge FC until he was 15, then Hamilton Wanderers, as well for his schools, St Peter's and Sacred Heart College in Auckland.

It was as a member of the New Zealand under-17 team, he came to the attention of the Netherlands professional club Go Ahead Eagles.

Supplied

Jamie Woodlock, left, is playing professional football in Europe.

"I didn't want to second guess the reasons or the choice of the Netherlands, all I knew was how hard it is to be signed up to a European club, so I grasped the opportunity."

Woodlock admitted leaving home wasn't easy.

"It was especially rough because a month before I left, I was subjected to a lot of negativity from people on social media about the club signing me, and I also had a lot of personal issues.

"Going to a new environment I knew I had to get my head right and keep focused on the dream," he said.

Woodlock is on a youth contract and is based in Deventer, Netherlands.

He is receiving plenty of attention from other clubs, so a full professional contract may not be too far away.

Currently playing in his favoured position on the left wing, he has made an immediate impact. After training with the club's under-21 squad, he made his debut off the bench against NEC, and his playing time is now split between the under-19 and under-21 sides.

Woodlock is a big fan of Brazilian player Ronaldinho and acknowledges his mentors like Craig Morrison and Simon Foy from St Peter's and ex-Leeds professional player Danny Hay.

Although he's a world away from Cambridge and his parents, Woodlock is resolute in his decision to head overseas.

"To me it was all about being dedicated and working hard on the pathways I chose."

Found Josh Ruckdeschel; currently signed with FC Cartagena in Spain. Believe he was only pre-season training with the NPSL Tampa Bay Rowdies 2, after spending the last 4 months of 15/16 season in Italy.  Coaches comments were, "He doesn't play like an Australian, is technical, creative and dangerous !"  As Pep Guardiola says, there are hundreds of players like Jack Wilshere in Spain .......... all divisions throughout Spanish football are a tough league, but what a fantastic training ground.
