Does anyone know how old Niko Kirwan is? I'm guessing he's 20 this year rather than after Jan of 2017. Shame, as he is finding the back of the net often at a good domestic level.
New Zealand Men's U-20s
I watched the FHM VS ONEHUNGA yesterday and there are some good young players at both clubs! It was a good watch, Moses showed why he is a well known player!
Nice of you to join us Moses...
Hard to take new forum posters too seriously about players!
What about Ben Mata... too young?

Not picked...was in holiday camp but not in squad

played U19's for Ellerslie while at school i think two years ago, don't know exactly what age he is though - sorry

I think he is 21, but not 100% sure, but would say too old for U20's otherwise need to be asking why he wasn't included as has played youth league for Waitakere has been on the bench for Mar but has also been finding the back of the net for their reserves in cap prem
Yeah I think you are right. 21. Bugger.
Hay & Bazeley have been aware of Kirwan for years.

I dont know this player but I'd have thought that if a 20 year old is unable to be a regular starter (not on the bench) in the Central League (as decent 16/17yr olds play Cap Prem/Central League) then he is not good enough for NZ U20.
Well he started the Chatham Cup semifinal.

Yeah. I know what you mean. I think this year has been his break thru year in senior mens football - starting some games and off the bench with a handful of goals but 21. So may miss the u23 cycle too. Tough break.
I see Jake Porter has been called in to replace James McGarry who needs surgery. Do forumsters feel that is a good call or are some other midfielders unlucky?
Will OFC be streaming this as they have done for other tournaments?
As it stands, I understand it will be highlights of group games, then streaming the final, and most likely the semi too.

Played a game for Waitakere united this year, probably a decent shout.
Wouldn't be too young as I believe Cameron Brown is born in 1999 making him the youngest in the team

There are a few 99 born in the team, including Joe Bell, and Singh I think.

Kirwan is not good enough for 20s. Playing youth league (not always starting) and cap prem is simply nowhere near good enough.

Porter should have been in squad from the start IMO
Michael Woud is also 99 born, so both keepers are eligible next time around! Hard to believe there is not a 97 or 98 born keeper up to the standard?

I've heard Conor Tracey from kings was in the mix until he broke his leg, Dave masters was at the camp I understand
And the Forrest hill keeper was in the mix but not sure what his name is??

The two who backed up Michael at the 17s World Cup are both 98, but chose to not be involved. Christian Woodbridge is having a year off, and Reuben Clarke is playing school (st Kents) and focused on his exams and completing school.

Thanks for that unknown quantity - I wondered what happened to conor Tracey. Hope he can recover soon.
My pick for U20s vs the Cooks is 6-0 to NZ.

Dijkstra, whoever he is, is doing well to be absent considering he wasn't named in the squad (and both keepers that were are there...)

Great for Myer Bevan. Was hoping he could transfer his form from the Nike Academy to the NZ team. That is why I was disappointed Dylan Burns hasn't kicked on - given he had plenty of hype around him from the same Academy and I presumed he was in the same class? Maybe the Phoenix policy came into it with him?

I believe he is still in Auckland as he played against Birkenhead and hasn't travelled. Not sure why he was named if not overseas with the team?
