Support Saoirse

At LFC Wellington we take a lot of pride in supporting local charities. We’ve held fundraisers for Heart Kids, Lower Hutt Foodbank, Red Cross and the Wellington City Mission, including spending a day there volunteering just before Xmas. Community support with these fundraisers has been over whelming and hugely appreciated by the LFC Wellington committee and our chosen charities.

Now one of our LFC Wellington members needs our support.

David Gaffney’s 5 year old daughter Saoirse has been diagnosed with stage 5 cancer. Her family will likely need to head down to Christchurch with her for 8-9 months whilst she gets treatment. We all know the daily struggles all families have, but add into the mix of being away from home for that long, and wanting to stay by your baby’s side the whole way — it is all a huge financial burden. We’ve decided to put together 4 fundraisers; a Karma Keg at Queen of Jackson’s bar in Petone, a Quiz Night at 5 Stags (above Four Kings – where we watched the Europa League Final) and a Comedy Night at VK’s Comedy & Blues Bar. We will also be auctioning items on Trade Me and we’ll add links to these when the items are available.

Karma Keg - When: Saturday 18th June, from 3pm until 5pm

Baylands Brewery have kindly donated a keg of beer which will be on tap at Queen of Jackson bar in Petone, with all money raised going to Saoirse and her family.

Quiz Night - When: Wednesday 29th June, starting at 6:30pm

The awesome team at Four Kings have once again looked after us by donating their bar for a Quiz Night. It will be held in the 5 Stags (upstairs from Four Kings).

You’ll Never Laugh Alone – Comedy Night - When: Friday 22nd of July. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm.

Join us for a night of comedy at VK’s Comedy & Blues Bar. 5 talented comedians have very generously donated their time to this event; your MC for the night will be Jerome Chandrahasen with Sera Devcich, Savanna Calton, Cohen Holloway and Cori Gonzalez-Macuer.

At some point we will be using Trade Me to auction off the following items (with more to come possibly)

• A signed LFC Ladies shirt from LFC and Football Ferns player Rosie White
• A coaching session with Andrew Durante
• A T20 Blackcaps shirt, owned by Grant Elliot with a personalised message and signature for the winner of the auction.
