Anyone want to have a go explaining 9-0 cashmere over fc20?

Here's my $0.02 worth, Global. The major difference between the teams was the work rate off the ball. CT pressed the FC midfield and defence hard; FC are coached to retain the ball and ultimately couldn't withstand CT's physical strength and pressing game. From 0-0 at 10mins, it was 0-3 at 16 minutes, and the game was gone. FC kept to their style of play with Sean Morris doing his best to hold the fort in the middle of the park, but the pressure told again with further goals at 33, 37 and 41 mins. So 0-6 at half-time. 2nd half was slightly less of a stroll for CT who missed a penalty and had what appeared to be a legitimate goal ruled offside. Lessons? For teams playing FC, press them hard. For FC, up your work rate to cope with a pressing opponent.

Thanks Steptoe. It's the challenge for any young team playing possession based football. Knowing Glenn, I'm sure they'll learn the lesson and get better at dealing with it.

Sounds like after tight first half with Suburbs having a slight edge Coastal came back strongly in the second half and only two great saves from the Irish keeper denied Coastal all three points.

Makes for another big game on ANZAC Day with Bays going top with a win and Suburbs needing the three points to move into the top four.

Seems to be the way to beat footballing sides, stick to it FC and you'll get better as time goes by. Certainly better for the league and football. You gotta speed up the execution of your in possession plays though otherwise you'll get overrun by sides who can bully you off the ball. very entertaining game last Monday v Coastal and looking forward to Tuesday.

Nelson to win comfortably. Bays have 4th/5th written all over them.

Mainland should just check with Cashmere :) It must be Bay$ benefiting from this after there Friday night fright? Would be a hoot if the titles is decided by illegal players. I guess every club will be checking cards after every loss now. Be interesting to see if any English Cup results get reversed.

If it means Coastal aren't top it would have to be the win over Bays (therefore putting them top). I've looked at the team list and can't for the life of me think who there would be un-registered though. Spill Vim

From what I've heard some idjit at FC2011 registered someone as a new player instead of a transfer from another club. Every game he played is a 3-0 win for someone else so Bays, Western and someone else get points. Has an impact on relegation too. #onejob

Yes watched the Halswell / O'Shea's Burwood game and Burwood also had two goals disallowed an also hit the crossbar. Halswell were never really in the games, sounds like they rested a few players.

Burwood full of running the whole game and if they keep this up hard to see them staying at the bottom of the CCL.

Is the paid Mainland staffer still a Board member at that club?

Maybe highlights the standard of the CCL not as high as some believe?.

Selwyn were collectively poor today. Not sure why. We seem to have a stinker per year. Hopefully it is this one. Saying that Western did the basics well and wanted it more. Honestly more tearing hair out on Selwyn performance to look too closely at Western though. No referee, injury, or any other questionable issues, just a bad game.

Yet Burwood were poor on Saturday. Would be interesting to see who Halswell did have out.

Cup games though are just that, a cup game, and 9 times out of 10 the favourite will win, but a lower league team will lift their game.

Selwyn V Western, honestly Selwyn didn't turn up. Western didn't play as well as they did against Bays on the weekend but got in behind time and time again. Still backing Selwyn for the title though, hope they get over this hiccup and get up through the league.
