There's going up and clinging on for a season or two. And then there's going up and making yourself a fixture in the league. Which is a much more difficult trick.
I guess it is why we all watch though!

He has already played 10 or so games in the EPL, although the clubs were not that good. If he does move up it will massive for him as the standard between the Championship and EPL is huge. Not sure he has it in him, but hope so.
Every so often a club will get into the EPL and manage to stay for a few years but teams like Hull/Middlesbrough Burnley etc get promoted and go back down
If he is able to get established and comfortable in the Everton set up that would be wonderful. It is possible to get somewhere from the bottom, but life is difficult in those teams duking it out for survival. It does seem though that Monk has been a good manager for him this season.

Talking about Wood specifically, twice already he's been a squad player for a PL team and he's improved as a player since then, so I think he could easily be good enough if given a shot.
You are assuming that Leeds would actually sell him. He has 2 more years on his contract and Leeds desperately want to get promotion, so might try and hold onto him for another season before looking to cash in. They would get far more cash from getting promoted than by selling him.

Has anyone ever made a comparison between Wood and Jermaine Beckford?
Beckford's breakout season for Leeds was 2009-2010 (age 26), when he scored 31 goals in all competitions mostly in League One. Leeds being promoted to The Championship end of that season. Beckford then signed by Everton on a free transfer, for 4years.
Maybe some parallels, if gossip about Everton's interest in Wood is true?!
However Beckford never really cut it in the EPL with Toffies, and after 1 season was back in The Championship with Leicester. He's now with Preston.

Teams like West Brom are stable mid-table clubs now, but they did yo-yo for quite a while before finally sticking in the Prem.
Promoted 2002, Relegated '03, Promoted '04, Relegated '06, Promoted '08, Relegated '09, Promoted '10 and stayed up since.
such an obsession with the EPL, Wood would kick ass in the Bundesliga -

3-3 in the last few minutes against Norwich City.
Wood with Leeds' first goal of the day, they were 3-0 down right on HT!
Really need to win though. Fulham who are directly above Leeds in the playoff race are currently 1-1 with Brentford. Fulham have a far superior goal difference.
Would take a heck of a final day for Leeds to sneak into the last promotion spot now. Leeds would need to win & Fulham lose, with a 14 goal turn around in goal difference!

Surely he himself has to be pushing to go? He's really got little to prove in the Championship you would think. He's been a consistent goal scorer there for a long time now over a range of different clubs.
He's got to have a crack at the Premiership. Or as some have suggested- he should look at the Bundesliga.
He's got to be approaching the peak of his powers. I guess it will depend on his options.

Might also depend on Gary Monks future. Monk is at Leeds on a one year deal. If Monk stays then I can see Wood staying. If Monk goes then I can easily see Wood looking for another club or the new manager cashing in.
I'm not as confident as TV is that he will go but I'll take the bet. I don't think the argument that he isn't good enough holds up, and I think he would have some kind of release clause, so all that's left is for a lower prem side to be in the market for a striker like him. That's what I'm not sure about

I have had a quick look at all the strikers in the EPL, from Lukaku to Negredo and frankly Chris in my opinion is not better than any of them.
Funnier things have happened.
Regular starts and regular service who knows?
Shane Long, Rondon? Diouf at Stoke? Remy? LLorente? Giroud? Lingard?

Also, when you are playing Championship you are against defenders that are usually nowhere as good as they are in the Premier.

The Championship is something like the 7th highest paid league in the world, it's a very good league and it's definitely possible to make the step up.
Jamie Vardy only scored 16 goals in his best season in the Championship with Leciester, and in the two seasons he had with Chris he only scored 2 more goals (21 vs 19). Chris is definitely a better player now than he was back then. A few years later Vardy was fighting for the golden boot and winning the Premier League.
Not only is Chris Leeds (and the leagues) highest scorer, he's also got the third most assists in the team, and is praised for his all round play as much as his nose for goal. Definitely will be on the radar of PL teams.

He missed the chance to win it at the death with a shot screwed wide. Leeds now going nowhere.

You'll have to ask a Hamburg fan.
Monk being rumoured to be on his way out, Wood could do a lot worse than wind up wherever Monk does.
Wow, looking at the speculation over Monk's future at Leeds. You'd think he'd just survived a relegation scrap!
Leeds were 15 points off the pace last season and they've only just fallen at the last hurdle this time around, so as a rational club owner (Radrizzani & Cellino no less....) you should be saying 'Sweet, we've improved from last season' we'll talk to the gaffer and see what areas can be improved, who we can sign, who's leaving and then go again.
If Monk goes, I hope Wood follows him or he makes the jump to the Premier League. Time will tell. Alternatively Monk and Wood could both remain at Elland Road - who knows with football these days.

Gone. Radrizzani has option to buy him out if Leeds fail to get promotion.
Celino not Monk, Monk was on a 1 year deal.
49' GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!! @officialcwood grabs his 30th goal of the season from the penalty spot, and equalises for #LUFC 1-1 pic.twitter.com/84hysyF9Ao

Final score is 1-1 versus relegated Wigan, and Leeds finish 7th 5 pts behind Fulham
I note Blackburn also go down League One
If Leeds dont go up via the playoffs, he will be off to Everton.

They aren't in the playoffs, they missed out this morning.

Will be doing well to go up via playoffs, they finished 7th, 5 points behind Fulham and 5 ahead of Norwich.
