You're wrong. I never said that- i said the opposite- Croud's are by and large fairly clueless about the laws and their application - As are most players, and yes, most coaches. I don't give us toss what they are all saying; i care about getting my decisions right, and work with my team to turn in a high quality performance. I don't need the crowd, or coaches or players to agree with my decisions on the day - i couldn't care less as long as i've made decisions to the best of my ability, with integrity, and worked with the 2 other ref's to sell the decision we've made. I care about the feedback i get from the team, or an assessor on the day. If the plonkers on the bank, be it at Endeavour, Dave Farringdon, Wakefield or Hutt Park go home happy or angry with the decisions we've made - honestly, it doesn't enter my head at all.

I'm yet to see any evidence that refs pick on Olympic. Given Olympic film every home game, the i reckon the Hun should have a watch through and highlight where they've gone wrong.

Just on those figures, am I right in assuming that Miramar and Olympics have more teams in the top grades (that get refs) than others clubs. That would explain some of the pattern.

Am I the only one gobsmacked by the argument that homophobic abuse is an "ethnic/Greek" thing? Like, is it cool to call someone a f*ggot if you're related to Plato?

I also don't have a dog in this fight, but here's some 2 cents...

I've spent a Federation season with a team that was by far the worst disciplined in the league. We'd get a red card every other game at best. Every now and then we'd implode and just have 3 players sent off in one hit. We actually didn't get many yellows. Just stupid reds usually from reacting to players or swearing at refs. The other teams knew it and would play for it.

The one thing that the whole club agreed on though: the refs hated us. Being on the outskirts of the city, the refs always had to travel extra far to ref us. We were outsiders. That was part of the reason we decided they hated our club and we generally built from that. Also a few people on the board had certain personality issues with the refs, etc etc.

At the end of the day, having played in the team and reflecting a few years later it had nothing to do with refs and everything to do with a shocking attitude. From the top down everyone blamed the ref. And when the board (through club room talk), the coaches (through the dressing room), and the supporters (through yelling stupid shark at refs) all believe it the players live to it as well. It gives them a reason for brain explosions that we as players were never held accountable for.

But yeah. I don't know Olympic from a bar of soap. I don't know who the board or coaches are. What I can tell you is that the chance there is actually a referee conspiracy is zero. Stop blaming everyone else. Look in the mirror. Learn some gamesmanship. Learn some composure. Get your head in the game.

/2cents

Not sure how, but your dog is in the semi-final...

"Stop blaming everyone else.

Look in the mirror.

Learn some gamesmanship.

Learn some composure.

Get your head in the game."

Not blaming everyone else, just the NZ anti-immigrant culture.

We all look in the mirror many times a day -  in my case not liking at all what I am  seeing.

Not worth replying really, but, ok, no different to any other club in Welly/NZ. A general statement that implies " We are better than you - if you are not us, your gamesmanship is poor."

Again, not worth debating.

Again, no contribution.

TheHun, the point was I have played for a club in exactly if not worse situation. Now I have the unique perspective that I am provided with thanks to the almighty hindsight.

Who's to say we weren't a predominantly minority club as well?

You come here basically accusing Capital Football and their referees of being racists. Your evidence of this is that your side received many red cards. To everyone who isn't blind that's an example of having a shark run club either at the top, in the coaching staff, or the players.

It's like getting a whole bunch of speeding tickets and trying to use that as evidence that the police are targeting you. Except you are speeding.

Unless you have video evidence of incorrect red cards that can be analyised and further evidence that there is some conspiracy against you then I'd suggest you close your yapper.

Thanks.

Oh my...Here we go again - the 'racist' nonsense again. Clearly, you have jumped in the middle of the this 'Olympic vs the refs' discussion and have not seen the numerous posts here where the issue was debated already and where I had already explained the difference between the (real) racism and (what you call) the racism. We are not talking about the racism here.  And I suppose you don't mind telling all of us what is the club that you (used to) play for that received a way harsher treatment than the Wellington Olympic club in the CL.

Well I can confirm that Wellington United had at least 2 in Cap 8 this year, so that's a dent in Olympics lead.

Here's hoping they change the format next year.
A popularity contest to decide the region's award winners is a joke.
If it remains the same Declan may as well not bother...

You saying votes from peers is not fair and Declan is in it for the personal awards.

apparently there were only 3 votes in it

records were

Wendi Henderson - Upper Hutt City Won W-League & Kelly Cup, Semi Finals of NWKO Cup - 2 losses all season

Declan Edge - Western Suburbs Won Central League, Quarter Finals of Chatham Cup - 3 losses all season

so pretty close, either were deserved winners

I'm saying the 'popular vote' is just that.

I thought it strange that the Women's Central League (now W-League) actually won this award the same year that the league had in fact been reduced to 6 teams. The men of course have 10 teams in the Central League.
As for the Knockout Cups - Upper Hutt needed to play(and win) just three games to make the semis. Whereas Western Suburbs played(and won) four matches to make the quarter finals.

Both teams obviously very good seasons. But maybe if a panel selected the winners it would make things at least a little more objective.
For the whole event...

Was it just a public vote to determine the finalists or did public votes determine the winner also? I was surprised Angus Kilkolly wasn't a finalist given he broke the golden boot record for the league

It's one of those odd quirks - It was the Capital Football awards so Kilkolly wasn't eligible as he played for a team that came under Central Football not Capital.

Ahhh that's interesting. Have just heard that Kilkolly has won the Terry Parkin, Central Football player of the year award.

As far as what I have heard Olympic didn't want to help re new his visa since he'd only be playing half a season after Tee Dubs. Hence Mar may end up helping in that regard.
