Who's in?
Peru away
Had a sneaky look at flights early.....
how much was it?
From Auckland the quickest way would be via Santiago @$2654 per person.
yeah agree with the above, what I found was $2,400 roughly... so I call it very unlikely that I get to go at this stage.
How much cheaper could you expect it to be? If the cost of the flights is the issue maybe think again. All I would say is will you in 10 years remember the extra $500 or $600 you spent on flights? Not in a million years, you probably won't remember it in 6 months. If you can go, go. I went to the WC in 2010 and paid for both myself and my (now) wife and regret absolutely nothing.
You can get them around $1700-$1900 on skyscanner. Connections are pretty awful though, which is a turn off.

deal-clincher!
Tossing it up, would be coming from London. Though flights are much more affordable, still a lot of traveling. Meant to be at ABs v France that weekend, but Pisco Sours >> French beer.
Any idea what the dealio would be with access to tickets?
Thinking about heading down from Boston, as it's not terribly expensive from there. Any ideas with tickets - can we get them through NZ football, or do we have to go through the Peruvian FA?

Seeing as I've seen pregnancy announcements from two of your old crew in the last 48 hours I'm guessing you'd be flying solo...

Yep - definitely sans that one. Working on the ginger in Melbourne but flights from there are even worse than NZ. It's a WIP.
The genius ones among us (Okay, me) booked flights to Chile months ago so all we needed to do was book a connection. Done now.
Much. Excite.
In contact with NZF re tickets. If you wanna be included in that sitch, email me Tracey at yellow fever dot co dot nz

BA flies direct from Heathrow. Planning to be there as long as the official date is when I’m off shift.

God help them all.
Lima is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Going there again will be as close as I get to the game.
Hear I was being told you were already booked in, made sense too with a break from the Olympic stadium (and Highbury) good for your health.
Considering coming back to NZ from Canada for the home game, and then trying to fly back via Peru.
Can probably only justify it if I can make both games, and even then it's a stretch. But we'll see...
People who are confirmed, can you please PM me. Trying to make distribution of info and plans easy. Chur

Thanks Tracey will send you an email. Flight to Lima booked.
Hi Dale how do I PM you? Sorry not a member of Yellow Fever.
One way flight to Lima booked, as part of a bigger South America trip. $AUD915 Aerolinas Argentina, leaving Auckland Sunday after 1st leg.
Will also email Tracey, re game tickets in Lima
Tu meke
Muchas Gracias
All good. Trace will pick up your email.
Yipe she already has. Good stuff
And I'm in. Can't farking wait peeps.
Does anyone know where we can buy tickets for the match in Lima? I am flying into Colombia next week and will definitely make it down to Lima if I can find a ticket..
There is an article online suggesting that fans in Peru will enter a ballot for tickets.
Regardless, NZF will be given an allocation to distribute. They have a guy in Lima at the moment sorting out logisitcs so expect to hear something about ticketing within the week.
Peru were given 1,100 tickets in Wellington. Of which 300 are still reserved for Peru FA. So I wouldn't have thought there wouldn't be much problems getting a ticket.

Brilliant, thanks. Do you have any estimation of the pricing?
No idea sorry. Will update here when we hear anything.
Am I right in thinking NZers don't need to apply beforehand for a tourist visa to Peru?
From my terrible Spanish, this document seems to say that's the case: http://www.rree.gob.pe/Documents/REQUERIMIENTOS_DE...

Only if you are a student or doing business. Not for tourists
For some food recommendations in Peru try to find a restaurant that serves Aji De Gallina (chicken in creamy Aji sauce with rice, egg and maybe some potatoes), I still salivate for the taste of that meal to this day. If you want something to simple or to takeaway theres also an awesome sandwich franchise in Peru that puts roasted meat in the sandwiches and I highly recommend it in Lima - La Lucha Sangucheria (best roast meat sandwiches ever). If you're a bit ballsy you can also try and find some ginea pig.
For me one of the most important things about going to another country is the food, don't forget to learn a bit of spanish so that you can read the menus (pollo = chicken, carne = beef, cerdo = pork). Also if you have time go and visit the fountains at night in Lima, they produce a lightshow and its a whole park of fountains.
Super jealous to those that are going for the game, stay safe and enjoy yourselves and brush up on your espanol gringos.
cerveza por favor
Hey folks, tickets for Peru v New Zealand going to be sold via a draw according to here.
Nothing on the Teleticket website yet.
Or you can buy them via NZF's travel agent for a cool $550. That includes a $200 mark up on what it costs NZF.
NZF are the actual worst.

Surely there has to be some media interest in this absolutely disgraceful scandal (it is a scandal). I think some of the criticism of NZF is overblown but this is by far and away one of the worst things I have ever seen them do

Has there been any interest in the story from the media? JD is 100% right, this is absolutely scandalous.
A good chant from our Away section...
'Oh Peru, 1982, was that it for you...?'
(I can't think of another line right now).
