This has potentially huge ramifications. Claims that use of video ref means no incident escapes refs' attention - so match review panel can't cite players retrospectively or they'd effectively be re-refereeing games. . https://t.co/8z4nTcV50P

Video Refs
So they are cutting back the number of referees that can be VAR as they admit it's a different type of refereeing to normal and promise not to re-referee the game. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/12/17/ffa-cull-var-personnel-after-more-drama-0
During university I worked for Sky on numerous sporting events - my family also worked in broadcasting and I have numerous friends who still do.
One of the biggest frustrations is that the people around the game don't sit down and learn how it all works. If the VAR had the same skills as a replay director then replays could be pulled up and reviewed in a matter of seconds. Yet no one is interested in taking the time to actually learn this. Just more evidence of how much of a shambles this VAR implementation is.
On a slightly less related topic this is a massive frustration around cricket. The commentators have absolutely no idea how things like the ball tracking and snicko actually work and their ignorance towards the system's nuances is highlighted every game.

As far as the A-League is concerned it would be a much better spectacle if they could put a stop to the 20 or so professional fouls (which serve to prevent counter attacks) every game that seem to avoid yellow cards.
