So anyone heard anymore about the trials in Cap Prem this year for a 10 minute sin bin for players that receive a yellow card for dissent?
Was mentioned in passing at the referees meeting last night. A second yellow still results in red and straight off.
IFAB guidelines are here:

As you say, this will use system B and only apply for yellow cards re:dissent and only for men's cap prem.

So do they get a yellow card and sin binned? Or is it sin bin but not a yellow? Then how does a second yellow equal a red still?
Sorry, don't like the idea of sin bin at all (in Cap Prem or anywhere else actually). I think the rules are pretty clear, first you get a yellow, then you get a red and you're off. I think the dynamics of the red card especially have a strong influence on games, so I can see the idea behind the sin bin. I also feel that if you've breached the rules of the game enough, it's only fair that you get sent off and subsequently banned (if applicable).

I don't believe that is how it works. This replaces Yellow Cards for dissents. A second sin bin means you can't return, but you can be replaced if substitutes are available. At least that's how it's been described in the Northern League regulations.

I actually applaud any initiative that helps rid the game of dissent. It does not matter how bad a referee is deemed to be by a player or team. Nutting off does not help your team or change the decision. It just shows a lack of self control.
Will be interesting though to see how a sin bin works for a goal keeper. Coaches automatically sub on (where available) a specialised goal keeper for red cards, but this is a different story.

I don’t see this working. Referees are already way too hesitant to give even a yellow card for dissent. Making the punishment worse only means they’ll be even more hesitant to punish dissent, resulting in even more of it going unpunished than it already does.
Also I can see a lot of timewasting happening while a player is in the bin. Theoretically the referee adds that time on to the sin binning, but we all know how that works currently at the end of a game when a side is a goal up - theoretically the referee adds time on as injury time, but teams still time waste because they know the referee usually doesn’t add enough time on.
Is there trouble at IBU?
Is there trouble at IBU?
In what way?
I know 3 of the better players off to Mar to start with
Island Bay have a new coach yeah? Maybe he lost a few players who were devoted to Mick.
In great news for both players and referees, the sin bin trial has been scrapped for Cap Prem.
Billy Scott at North Wellington now?.

Are they (or were they) doing it at Central League level?
Nope, only cap prem mens was considered. Apparently the idea is to stand back and observe how it works in other federations.
season predictions (or a completely wild stab in the dark)
1 Petone
2 North Wellington
3 Wests
4 Upper Hutt
5 island Bay
6 Tawa
7 Mar
8 Lower Hutt
9 Olympic
10 Kapiti Coast United
Sounds like things aren't all rosie at North Wellington. A few disillusioned players, it's all very clicky with the new ones that have come in.
IBU beat Upper Hutt by 7?
What's that all about?

they looked fine today when they beat Olympic 3-1. (although Olympic did miss 2 pens)
Karl Romijn has left and joined his brother at Seatoun in Cap 2

The Canadian , Maksym Kowal, who played for Tasman is playing for North Wellington now
You're right there was no one that really stood out, but North Wellington's new players like Martin Packer (ex Stop Out) and Chas Lawerence (ex Olympic) are solid Central League level players who would walk into most Central League teams. North Wellington are going to be the team to beat in this division this season
another signing for North Wellington - this one an import from England who was playing Conference South (6th tier) for Eastbourne Borough - where they getting the money from?
North Wellington AFC Retweeted
2nd http://www.pbfootballservices.com player left UK this week. This time for New Zealand, with @RyanWorrall5 joining @NorthWellington for their season. Good luck to both Ryan and North Wellington for the season. If you want to follow Ryan then get in touch. Ryman/Southern League minimum
The guy who helped bring over Ben Harris to Nelson originally is now helping NW. Using his contacts I'd imagine getting in these imports. Would love to know where the money coming from?
Also wonder how many of the existing players are getting $$ and whether this is causing some disharmony due to the amount of mercenaries signing.

So James Prosser Olympic's Cap prem coach left today along with Stu Jacobs
Olympic put out a statement saying Shaun Easthope had agreed to take over the Central League side
They also said Martin Pereya-Garcia would be taking the Cap Prem side
But Island Bay United have other ideas about that and posted this -
Island Bay United Association Football ClubUPDATE: For those of you who may have heard or read reports Martin Pereyra-Garcia is still very much part of the Island Bay United Association Football Club family. He is committed to his roles as Junior Development Manager and U17s & U19s Coach and has no plans to coach for any other club or team for the 2018 season.

Shark Attack!
Now this from Olympic - the importance of being part of the Olympic family, even if you are second choice!!!
Coaching AnnouncementWellington Olympic AFC would like to welcome the return of Matt Kolic, Carlos Junca and Anthony Neonakis.
As you know Carlos Junca has been with Wellington Olympic AFC for the past 3 years and during this time has been involved as conditioning coach and more recently as great supporter of Olympic. Both his sons, Nacho and Gaston, play for the club. Carlos has always been willing to help where he could and we are pleased to be able to inform you that Carlos will help joining the U17s group and is willing to help wherever else he can. For this we thank you Carlos.
We are also pleased to announce that Matt Kolic has also offered to assist with coaching our Capital Premier team along with Maki Halikias and Anthony Neonakis as Team Manager. Matt is a key member of Olympic and we greatly appreciate his ongoing support. Thanks mate!

Carlos, Matt and Anthony are a true testament to what it means to be “club men” and the importance of being part of the Olympic Family.

I don't think this has got anything to do with being second choice. They are helping their club out by stepping in, as you do when you are a good club member.
So half way stage of the league and apart from big spending North Wellington who are unbeaten and looking likely to win the league, its a really really close league with only 6 points separating the teams between 2nd and 9th
