Cameron Knowles (Timbers' assistant)
Wouldnt mind him coming into the All Whites, as he is a good solid player. Defensively, another addition even if just used for the OFC qualification games, would be good. Normally a defensive squad of six is enough for these games: Sigmund, Lochhead and Vicelich would be likely used as well as two of either Fitzgerald, Boxall, Boyens or Knowles depending on injuries or possibility of being needed by their coaches.
Simone Bracalello snapped a 1-1 tie with a superb individual effort to give the visitors the win. Bracalello turned defender Cameron Knowles inside out as he attacked in the 18-yard box and then sent a low shot to the far post, just out of goalkeeper Evan Bush's reach.

Unfortunately even with a 3-0 win, Montreal didn't qualify to the playoff because Minnoseta won vs Carolina...
Arghh! that is annoying, but thank you anyway
Any chance of getting him back for the Nix or the A-dubs???

For long time Timbers fans that watched the team through the USL/USSF D2 era between 2001 and 2010, there are few players that have generated as much buzz and respect during their playing career as former USL Timber defender Cameron Knowles. Known as a very smart and adept defender, Knowles was a stalwart in the Timbers backline for many years, even playing alongside current Technical Director Gavin Wilkinson. The Timbers announced the longtime defender would join the Timbers coaching staff to replace Trevor James who resigned in December 2011. Knowles will join current assistants Amos Magee and Mike Toshack on Coach John Spencer's staff effective immediately.
Knowles appeared to be making a late push in 2009 to become one of the building blocks for the forthcoming MLS team until he suffered a horrific leg injury against Montreal in August 2009 that required surgery and many months of rehabilitation. It was a credit to his hard work that he returned to the pitch in the 2011 NASL season playing for the Impact in the same stadium where he suffered the injury, but he didn't catch on with a club during the offseason and returned to Portland. Knowles has been a fan favorite for his many charitable endeavors as well, interacting with the Timbers Army during various events.
If he is able to inspire the Timbers defenders to match the playing effort he displayed during his four year career in Portland, the defense will make huge strides towards success. Knowles might not have been the swiftest of foot, but he made up for that with incredible intelligence and a willingness to use his body to knock opposing players off their runs or scrap for loose balls. I also appreciate the hire to link more of the Timbers history with the current MLS club, as Knowles joins fellow USL/USSF D2 veteran Scot Thompson within the Timbers organization.

Timbers II (6th) also make the USL playoffs. After being pretty shark for a few years, Knowles seems to be getting some credit for turning things around a bit.
Bit hard for USL coaches of MLS 2nd sides, with players coming and going like Tuiloma, between the 2 different club teams.
Along with Elliott, good to see a couple of young Kiwi coaches doing well. Though either could be hard to prise away from the States (both been there a long time), if ever wanted by the Nix or NZF.
