Okay we don't have much time (i don't either but love to procrastinate)
This was done several times in the past and thought it would be good to bring it back. Patrick used to run it and if he wants to he is welcome to. If not i will run it.

Want 32 players and we will play in the same format as the world cup.

Rules: (by patrick478)

The competition will follow the same format as Ryan's Rover's A-League Tipping comps, gently modified for the World Cup format. Main difference is that there will be a group stage, followed by knockouts (round of 16 etc) to determine the Fever World Cup tipping winner.

Everyone will be randomly allocated into a pool of four people, and you'll be matched against each person in your pool for one of the world cup game 'rounds'. Top two players in each pool advance to the round of 16, and then we go through a knockout tournament right through to the final, just like the world cup. The fixtures for each round will be posted the day after the first match in that round has kicked off (to prevent late tippers from choosing results based on who they are playing). Late tips will be accepted, but you will score 0 points for any matches that have kicked off before you submitted your tips. The exception to this is the first round, where if you haven't indicated that you want to join, you won't be able to take part in the comp as I will have already sorted out the groups and fixtures etc.

For each match, choose which team you think will win and the margin of victory (either by 1 goal or by 2+ goals), or you can choose a draw You will earn 2 points for every winning team tipped correctly, and one extra point if you also picked the right margin. If you correctly picked a draw, you will earn 2 points and no extra points.

For the group stage, the person in a matchup that scores the most points will earn 3 competition points, or in the case of draw, both players will be awarded 1 point. To separate any players that are tied after the three group stage rounds have been played, the player who has the highest number of tipping points scored will be ranked higher on the table (note - this is NOT the points difference). Since the chance of a tie is fairly likely due to the low number of matchups each player will play, this is to reward players who are better at tipping rather than players who have 'got lucky' by their opponents not scoring many points against them. If both team have the same number of tipping points, then the team with lowest points against will be ranked higher. If there is still a tie, then a coin toss will decide who is ranked higher.

For the knockout stage, each player will submit how many yellow cards they think will be shown in the tournament round. In the case where both tippers score the same number of points, the tipper who was closer to guessing the actual number of yellow cards will advance in the tournament. If both tippers were as close as each other, the tipper who posted first will advance.

Each matchday will be 1 full round of games.

If any questions let me know.
