There's a keeper in our under 20 squad called Rhys Keane who plays
for Central Coast Mariners. Anybody know anything about the guy?
Apart from the obvious stuff on nzf website I mean. He's about 6'3"
and 100 kg, so he's got the build. Anyone seen him play?
I looked on the Coast website and he's not on it so I couldn't find
anything on him.
Has he changes sides to become a kiwi, otherwise he's an
import for the coast, so at under 20 he must be pretty good.
Was originally found playing around Newcastle when he was first
linked with an NZ side.
He was part of the U-17 squad at about 14, and he must still be only just 17. Apparently at 14 he was absolutely huge, but from memory he had to leave the squad at the U-17 qualifiers and a replacement had to be called up.
I thought he was with Manly rather than the Mariners, but the Salty Dogs do have a youth side that plays a bit in NSW so maybe he is with them.
Pretty sure he was Spoonley's understudy at the qualifiers, and I think I watched him play a warm-up game out at porirua back in January.
