I didn’t want to buy a book or get a blog.

Edit: here’s the original scene. There seem to be possibly at least 230 tributes, reworking or remixes. And still growing.

A Tarantino one.

Well done. It leaves the source material mostly untouched, but adds a lot of extra material, mostly from the pulp fiction parody done on another episode. A classy homage, but not ground breaking or in itself inspiring.

Basketcase by Green Day.

More impressive to me as I don’t understand how easy/difficult this was to do, which is probably going to be the same with the vast number of auto tune/musicky ones. I do know the song so that also helps.

Nice editing. Keeps the story moving. The contrast between the auto tune with a throwaway line of original dialogue is good.

It serves both texts well and hangs together as a thing. Nothing is overdone or egregious. Hits the spot, much like the titular meal.

Steamed Hams Inc.
Apparently a Gorillaz song. I didn’t know it or recall it.

This is defo a music video. Lots of images pop up with the beat and with samples. You say it’s a remix perhaps?

Enjoyed it. Much more upbeat than the others. Made me realize there is much more to this rabbit hole of internet culture than I had imagined or could have imagined.

Allegedly the worst. Unlikely though: it only has 635 views on an account with 597 subscribers. It is only around 20 seconds. Some Roblox joke for the kids? Despite the thumb nail there are no lego heads.

A Mario version- actually in game!

There is no voice acting. There is a collect all the hamburgers level. Kinda removes all the Simpsons characters, but brings all the joy of Mario and co, and the simplicity of 2d side scrolling level games.

This one contains a more suspicious and less endearing Chalmers with a bit of editing:
3B4A903A-C360-4B2E-B33B-2FAD33D0686D.jpeg 316.7 KB

This lacks the whimsy of the original and the ending is a bit rushed. Comedy being tragedy denied, not this time sucker! It also perhaps is out of character too far. It would be a complete pain in the neck to have to find a new Springfield elementary principal.
Enjoyed how a little editing through the first part changes the whole relationship though.
3 and 1/2 movie killers.
nb you might also note that many of these have millions of views!

This has got a comforting surreal quality. The words are said in (chronological) alphabetical order. That’s it. Rather pointless, but not abrasive.

This is fantastic. At least a dozen different art styles. Some comment on the story. Though for all the surrealism, the only bit that seems jarring is when the skin colour attempts (within 2d animation) to represent naturalism. It’s weird to think about the license that the yellow skin gives the Simpsons, but it definitely seems to.
Original voice acting. This is a goodie. For fans of the Animatrix/Waking Life/Scanner Darkly era of things that were very familiar, but had also taken a step beyond.

A complete and unusual tone change. It removes some of the pathos, gives in to the fantastic and also cunningly switches the kind of text at the almost final moment. Plus it’s short and doesn’t mess with the original animation, except to cut most of it.

Another endearing and altogether charming departure from the script.
Here steamed hams refers to the acting (unintentionally!) and also has similar textual undertones (advertising) to the last one.
I like the music in the key moment better. They rather Nordically stick to the source to the end, despite the diversion being a fine place to close the story. The last 16 seconds are superfluous.

Here is a world turned on its head: the impossible and amazing is more accessible than a clown inspired fast food burger chain.

Nb (edit): one of the actors clearly has Australian antecedents to his English (which I assume is a second language) as he oscillates between the pronunciation of the animation and some rather Aussie vowels!

Described in the comments as ‘a YouTube poop in disguise’ (ytp in another video which sent me to urban dictionary and I may even post another video of ), this starts a little nsfw and off script. But it has a bunch of game and streamer references, few of which I got. It’s also got a Haunted castle/house type thing going on. Which may be a Mario reference?

It is called Streamed Hans and there are links to 3 3 hour plus archived stream videos of video editing of this video in the description.

It’s not the worst. But if you’re not 14 and drinking too many energy drinks with Nos, it may not be inspirational either. It has plenty of moments that feel like they climbed down a tree of homage from Fear and Loathing with altered sound and speed. It seems like it may be part of a genre of such even.

In its defense it keeps the pace and the surprise factor up so nothing gets dull.

It really feels that I lack the context or framework to read a lot of this text, but I honestly can’t get the story. (An epilogue feels like a reference to a game or something else.) That’s probably a feature of these creator/streamer communities evolving their strict badges of linguistic membership.  It makes it a curiosity, and so a little unintelligible, but funnish for the rest of us. 1 million views and counting.

This one is the original soundtrack with Lego animation. I want to say stop motion, but I’m not sure if some of it was done with you know, the computer magic.
(Have discovered a making of video in this guy’s account. If you care go and watch it. I haven’t yet. He’s some kind of motion graphics professional who gets a lot of likes for lego stuff on his channel, but not for his other stuff.)

Otherwise it’s just the original, no changes, done as part of a lego animation series and no surprises. Also been watched over a million times, which is a lot.

This one, as above, is a rendition of the unchanged original story recreated in some act of pure animation ingenuity.

In this case it is a 360 degree movable camera from Chalmers point of view. And yes this with a scarcely credible 7.4 million views may be the most popular of these videos.

This magical bizzaroverse is Michael Rosen. Yes, the children’s book author.
Apparently one of his family convinced him to do some videos for YouTube of his poems. He has such an amazing rubber face he has been the subject of around 4,000 YouTube poop videos. That is to say re-editing his marvelous grin and words into new forms.
Michael Rosen and one of his characters Harrybo, in ‘Steamed Hams’. Enjoy!
Also 2 million views…

This is solely audio, despite a cracker thumbnail, and will appeal to anyone familiar with Les Mis.

It’s Javier and Jean Val Jean singing in ‘Les Steamed Hams’ based on The Confrontation.  Sold. The musicianship is decent, the rewritten song good and the channel is called ‘Relax with Me’.  Which was nice.

This is another transposition to a different ‘universe’. (Edit: The game is Team Fortress 1 & 2)

Only the story outline is used, the animation and acting is all original and the central pair are,I assume, game characters which I haven’t heard of. Entertaining ones though! It, in fact, doesn’t use the expression ‘An unforgettable luncheon’. The characters’ lexicon and catchphrases are very much their own, not Springfield’s. Many details are changed.

It’s all very slick and looks much more professional than most of the videos which tinker with and re-edit the older animation.

It’s a wildly popular channel with some videos watched up to 30 million times. This one is only 3.8 million.

Presenting, wonderfully illogically, Steamed Toast.

It seems like the version above was powerful enough to cause a crossing of the streams. It itself has been remixed, re-edited and ytped.

Anyway here are two odd Thomas the Tank Engine versions. The first attempts to adapt the original Simpsons story for a Thomas the Tank Engine setting, while the second follows the Steamed Toast audio. The second is the more cohesive and has better internal logic tbh.
It might be the quality of the animation v the filming of models (Phantom menace v the original trilogy if you like.), but I enjoy the quality of this one better. Only the expressions are animated.
It is possible as well that the accents and voice acting/sound mix in the first one is what puts me off. The voices are European of some kind, and though the animation is reasonably decent, the sound is a bit bumbling and is perhaps the main thing that put me off. Overall, the first one could be punchier and pacier. It holds up really only as homage.

I suppose a football website with all the hours wasted on a ball game in lives across the globe should check itself before its users call something pointless, however the more without a reason or purpose something is the bigger badge of honor it seems to have in internet culture…

What was your entry point? Any gaming or streaming awareness? Or much as myself, as a digital immigrant?

Also, far from done…

Quite like this one: Aha’s Take on Me

The style of that original music video is still rather cool. And it’s much more that video than the Simpsons story.

Excessive PROFANITY warning. Due to its content it should not be viewed by anyone. A tribute to the brave World Cup run of the Socceroos. Don’t see this being Mooy or Ryan, but maybe Irvine or Duke…or no Cammy, surely this is exactly what Cammy Devlin’s like, but just increase the speed to 1.75…
Something about this is just perfection. I miss the word ‘cobber’. I really liked it.

One has to take this in the context of which it is meant. Personally, I found it to be typical Australian larriken humour and funny as. Tee Hee.

I mean I had flatmates and friends  who spoke exactly like this when I lived in Aussie. Can confirm it’s veracity! It’s not really an exaggeration. But might cause issues with H.R.

Cobbers, in NZ at least, is either my dad’s generation and/or particularly used in parts of the South Island.

This still has got a real noir quality about it and it’s inverting the perspective of the show. This is from the animation collection previously posted, but here’s one from a guy who has done a bunch from odd perspectives in the last two weeks:
