As spotted by Youngheart, 21 yr old Kingsley Poi Poi Sinclair has signed for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, in the German 4th tier. Oberhausen were 4th in their West Regional league last season. Only the top team gets promoted to the 3rd tier. League includes the 2nd teams of Köln II, Schalke 04 II & Borussia M'gladbach II.

I reckon is worth his own thread. Level that likes of Marinovic & Trev Zwetsloot have played in prior.

Plus I love the name Kingsley Sinclair. Sort of chap you can imagine flying his Spitfire, and shooting down a few Heinkels in 1940.

FYI - Bayern II are also down in the 4th tier (Bayern Region - were 2nd last season so missed promotion) after winning the 3rd tier a few seasons back with Singh. So if Sarpreet does end up post rehab initially with Bayern's 2nd team, it will be down in the lowly 4th tier.

Looks like he got a full 90 the other day as his new club ran out 9-0 winners over 6th tier FC Iserlohn 46/49 in a pre season friendly.

Got on for the last 40 minutes of their 3-1 friendly win over Dutch Eerste Divisie club De Graafschap.

For those wondering why I said 40 minutes and not 10. The game was played over four 30 minute quarters.

Here's hoping he can kick on and get himself on the team sheet on a regular basis for his new club.

Regionalliga West campaign kicks off on the 23rd at home to Alemannia Aachen.

Lower league German football kicks off.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen host Alemannia Aachen.

Kingsley-Sinclair on the bench.

See that Rot-Weiß Oberhausen were in the Bundesliga 2 in 2011, but then suffered back to back relegations, and looks like have been in the Regionaliga 4th tier ever since. They were 4th in their Regional League last season, 12 points off promotion.

Edit - a 2-1 win for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. I don't think K-S got on, but a German speaker may want to double check the club's twitter account.

Seems like a night of high drama in the Western section of the Regionalliga.

Köln II were up 4-1 after 77' (Sinclair hadn't made it off the bench to that point) when this happened.

Loosely translated, the Köln fans appear to have disguised themselves, and have then sprung a surprise to steal a Rot Weiß Oberhausen banner/tifo from their section and run back across the field with it.

Rot Weiß Oberhausen fans have then reacted and come from where they were stationed, and stormed across down the pitch to try and retrieve it causing a confrontation with their Köln counterparts.

On social media there seems to be a lot of blame for security and whatnot with opposing fans taunting each other etc etc.

The game was suspended shortly afterwards, with Köln up 4-1, but of course that result does not yet stand.

He won't be apart of it I'm afraid...

Kingsley Sinclair has approached the club with a request for a contract termination due to a desire for more playing time. The association will fulfill this and terminate the contract.

Kingsley always behaved very well and was well integrated into the team. We will now comply with his request to terminate his contract and wish him all the best for the future, both privately and in sport," said Oberhausen's sporting director Patrick Bauder.

"It was a pleasure to be part of the team and I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity. It was made very easy for me to find my way into German football," said Kingsley Sinclair.

Don't fully know what to make of that to be honest. Short, sharp, sweet flutter in Germany, perhaps a drop down to the Oberliga to get some game time.

Next up - Who knows?

Actually, doing a little digging, and he's already signed on with Spvg Schonnebeck 1910 in the Neiderrhein section in the Oberliga.

Dead last in their league, 4 defeats from 4 to start their season. They did however win their first knockout match in the Neiderrhein regional cup a few days ago 2-0 against Büderich

Always a big call to terminate a contract in a foreign country with the season already underway. I like the ambition with this one, even if it's a move to a lower tier. Shows he's not just content to sit on the bench. Good chance for him to pick up some minutes and hopefully get noticed.

Good luck to him on his move.

Yipe good for him. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (4th) seem like a contender for promotion to the 3rd tier (though it ain't easy with so many regional leagues in the 4th tier) - so he may have always been struggling to get mins there.

But I ain't going to monitor someone in German 5th tier footy.

It's all good, I will. 🤝

No info on lineups as yet (takes a few more days, the further you go down the tiers). But he definitely played some part in the match as he scored his new sides 4th goal in a 5-3 victory over TSV Meerbusch.

Slight turn around in form since young Kingsley came on board for Schonnebeck.
2 wins
2 losses

He's played a part in all of them which is what he wanted, and is the main reason he left Rot Weiß Oberhausen, subsequently dropping down a tier to get some footy under his belt.

Came on at H/T this morning in their 2nd win of the campaign. A 4-3 win over Vfb 03 Hilden, also scored his second goal for the club - The winner for Schonnebeck in the 94th minute.

Hopefully he can carry on this form and work his way up a division or two if someone comes knocking.

Schonnebeck 17th of 21 in the Neiderrhein section of the Oberliga with 2 wins and 6 losses so far this campaign.

Helps his new side continue on a recent run of good form, they're now unbeaten in their last three league matches & four including their latest Neiderrheinpokal (Cup) win over SF Baumberg on the 14th.

Carrying on from their last minute win against VfB 03 Hilden last weekend, they managed a 1-1 draw in their midweek game against TuRU Düsseldorf
https://www.fupa.net/match/turu-duesseldorf-m1-spvg-schonnebeck-m1-220921

And he managed 58 minutes this morning as Schonnebeck managed a 1-0 win at home over 1. FC Kleve

Schonnebeck continuing their good form of late with a 1-0 win away to FC Monheim.

Sinclair starting up top again, logs 73 minutes before being subbed (1-0).

Schonnebeck up to 11th for now, but a lot of teams around them have 1-2 games in hand.

Thought it'd be a good time to update on young Kingsley Sinclair who seems to be going decently over in Germany.

When he first arrived after leaving Rot Weiss Oberhausen for more playing time, Schonnebeck were four losses from four, and after seven games they weren't much better off with only one solitary win to go with six losses - subsequently propping up the table.

Fast forward a few months and they've turned it around significantly. Their record of 7-2-2 from their past 11 games has bumped them up to 10th and has them as one of the better performing sides in the league.

As for Sinclair, he has got his wish for more playing time.
Stats for the season so far:
14 appearances, with 4 of them off the bench.
3 goals and 2 assists for the first team and throw in the fact he's made a solitary appearance for the State League side (Schonnebeck II) scoring a couple of goals in the process.

Not a bad return by any means, and here's hoping he pushes on to higher honours, or at least gets looked at or picked up by a club a tier or two up.

Schonnebeck (10th) take on TVD Velbert (4th) overnight in what should be a good challenge as they try to continue on with their good run of form.

Despite signalling earlier on in the year that he would be back in Germany for the 23/24 campaign, it turns out young Kingsley has left Schonnebeck, and has since landed over in Victoria with Oakleigh Cannons in the NPL. He links back up with a familiar face, as well as a former New Zealand U17 rep too - Emlyn Wellsmore. The pair both played for New Zealand at the U17 World Cup in India back in 2017.

Oakleigh are one of 26 sides currently under consideration for elevation to the National Second Tier, scheduled to kick off in 2024.

I can see a continuing trend of Kiwi's casting their eyes westward looking to pick up gigs, and position themselves for inclusion in that competition when it gets under way.

Made his debut off the bench earlier today as well in a 2-0 win over South Melbourne too.
