As YH posted in the Herdman thread, he had an assist & goal for Whitecaps II in a 4-3 win. Linder off at 38 mins (2-2).

USL

Colorado Springs (9th in the West) host new USL club Rhode Island (10th in the East)

Musa last featured in a 0-2 loss to Sacramento on April 6th. When he was dragged off at HT with 2 team mates. Never great for that to happen as a CB, and you ain't injured?? CS with a back 3/5 that day. Lately it seems to have been a big 4.

That was 7 matches ago, and Moose hasn't made a match day squad since. So either injured or completely out a favour. Colorado S have a new young 37 yr old coach from Ireland this season.

I'm guessing at age 32, and with alot of injuries the last few seasons, Musa's not really on Auckland FC's radar.

Collier on the pine for Indy Eleven who lead 4-0 at 60 mins.

As per YH's post, Bidois with an early goal for Loudon.
Now 2-0 at 60 mins, with Trevor Zwetslott coming on at HT, as a CB - but then unfortunately he himself is replaced 9 mins later. The guy can't catch a break.

Haha, Jesus wept at this one.

Trevor Zwetsloot subs on at H/T, and picks up an early yellow card in the second half. Makes a semi rash challenge moments later  (avoids a second booking) gets subbed off at 54 minutes (!) with his replacement getting an assist with his first touch 30 seconds later. 😂

Collier on at 64 mins (4-0) in a 4-1 win for Indy Eleven.

Bidois full game that early goal for Loudon, in a 3-0 win.
As above by YH Trevor Zwetsloot with his odd 9 min cameo for Loudon at replacement CB. I see that the ref sent off a Monterry player in the first half (2 yellows) so maybe the Loudon coach, thought the ref was card happy & Zwetsloot high risk!

Kyle Adams full game & a yellow for Louisville in a 2-2 draw in Las Vegas

US Open Cup Round of 16

Bidois's Loudoun with a juicy tie away at MLS big boys LAFC (5th in the West).
LAFC with likes of Hugo Lloris, and MLS legend 39 yr old Kei Kamara, so a cool experience for Bidois.

Bidois back to the bench, as Loudoun try to upset LAFC in California.
No Zwetsloot in match day squad, who may have ruined his chances of a longer term deal in the previous game. He's only on a short term 25 day contract.

LeBron James taking an interest in the USL Championship & Loudoun United?

Whowouldathunkit? Look who gets a sneaky appearance in the screengrab too. 😎

Just did a quick read through the thread. The goalscorer Robby Dambrot, his father coached LeBron in high school basketball. Small world.

Bidois definitely in the hunt for an Olympic shout. Another strong game - better passing than in the past couple of weeks, and a couple of good chances and opportunities worked.

He's definitely benefitting from consistently playing first team football.

Is 1-1 at HT between Whitecaps II (9th in the West) and  San Jose Earthquakes II (8th).

Both Finn Linder (at LB) and Herdman starting for Caps II.
19 yr old Aussie RB Giuseppe Bovalina (ex Adelaide) also playing for Caps II. Bovalina has so far played 3 MLS games for the Whitecaps first team, off the bench.

Bovalina 77 mins.

Herdman's going to the Olympics but is he also going to Vanuatu with the All Whites?

Team(s) must be announced next few days you'd think.

I wondered if Auckland might be taking a look at him. He was a fringe MLS player for a while so he's clearly got skill, he just hasn't nailed down a starting spot.

Doesn't score enough goals. He got 1 goal in 54 MLS games (14 starts). And from memory the goal was on debut with an element of luck, scruffed shot or something from memory.
https://us.soccerway.com/players/elliott-collier/280341/

If he's only a bench player now in the USL at age 29, hard to see him being much of a success in the ALM. Better to go for younger attacking players like Randall, Luis Toomey, Liam Gillion and some top imports. Or other Kiwis like Greive, De Jong etc. Even Logan Rogerson if he's having 2nd thoughts about his move to Armenia.

Kyle Adams would be the most suitable AFC pickup from the USL I reckon.

I get that, but I always think of the Smeltz example. He was not lighting up a weaker league but then hit the ground running in the A-League.

Also, 54 matches and 14 starts sounds respectable but I'd be interested to know what that translates to in terms of minutes. I remember when he was still in the MLS and I was keeping tabs to see if he played, and often when he was subbed on it was only for a few minutes at a time.

All the info you want is in this link.
https://us.soccerway.com/players/elliott-collier/280341/

I can remember him getting 2-3 gilt edged chances over various MLS games, in his time at Chicago, and he failed to take them. Was frustrating, and really explains why is now totally out of the AWs picture, and a USL bench player. Was surprising really that Chicago held onto him as long as they did.

Big boy, with really handy futsal skills. But not enough goals or assists.

His one & only MLS goal.

Linder a full game in a 4-0 win.

Caps II play again in a few days so be interesting to see if Herdman plays in that game, with the senior MLS side playing again this weekend.
