A golden period in time for young Kiwi goalkeepers making moves abroad.
You only have to look at Joe Gauci's move to Aston Villa to know that a certain Alex Paulsen is also waiting in the wings for a likely move abroad at some point too.
I know it's only a friendly, but Sims possibly moves in to that #2 keeper for his new club. Nice jump that from the 3rd tier. Still young, so has plenty of time on his side. #1 Krasniqi has over 300 career first team appearances throughout his career to date, just as a reference.
A game against Kees Sims’ new top-flight Swedish club, GAIS - Sims got half an hour or so off the bench!
Two pre season Svenska Cupen games, 2 keepers tried in goal but neither have been Sims. He's sat on the bench for both. Perhaps he'll get a turn next. Allsvenskan starts end of March.
Managed his first team debut overnight as he came on at H/T (2-0) against Örgryte (Where he trialled with not long before signing for GAIS) in their final Svenska Cupen group match.
Match finished 3-0 to GAIS, but this concludes their cup campaign as they finish 3rd out of 4 sides in Group 2. Still, a nice milestone for Sims to make his debut, and to keep his clean sheet intact too.
GAIS lost 0-4. Not a good sign. Brommapojkarna were 3rd last in the 2023 season
Brommapojkarna with 3 Danes previously at 2nd tier club Fredericia, including 2 signed this window. Exactly the move Eli Just was looking to make. Danish 2nd tier to Swedish top tier.

Not a good return all round for the club. Whipped on the field, but they also had a member of the crowd collapse in the stands prior to kickoff. Unfortunately this person died in hospital later on in the evening. Very sad - RIP.
From Flying Kiwis. Not a faultless debut. All part of the learnings for a young GK.
Soon afterwards we saw the best of Kees Sims as he expertly tipped a booming header over the bar on the stretch. However, from the resulting corner kick he rushed out to punch and couldn’t get through the traffic. Claimed a foul but that wasn’t forthcoming. Jakob Rask nodded in for the 80th minute equaliser.
But the keeper up the other end made a much worse mistake as he and a defender got mixed up going for a loose ball which fell for Cooper-Love to slip into an empty net. 83rd minute winner. GAIS with the 2-1 victory on Kees Sims’ debut. A couple of things to work on but he played his part in a very good win against a team that was third prior to this fixture. There’s now a short turnaround for their next match so we’ll see if Krasniqi is recovered or not by then.
Kees Sims gets back to back appearances in the Allsvenskan, not to mention back to back victories as well as his GAIS side followed up their 2-1 win over Mjällby with another three points for a 3-2 win over Kalmar FF.
Sims on the pine, as GAIS hold Malmo out until the 84th min only to lose 1-0.
GAIS with a total Swedish starting 11. Sims & a guy from Sint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles) the only foreigners in their match day squad. Big boys Malmo with a host of visa players.
Now a 1 month mid summer break in Sweden. So Sims free to join AWs at Nations Cup, if Bazeley wants to go with 3 young Olywhites keepers Paulsen, Gray & Sims
