Your best coach and why.
Kevin Thompson - Miramar Rangers Capital 1 coach.
For me its Brendan McIntyre, sure hes got his detractors out there for being a bit "loopy" sometimes but he does manage to get the best out of players most of the time. People dont always agree with his style but you have to remember, he comes from a culture where football is IT! theres nothing more to life than that and thats something he tries to impart on his players. I played with Macca @ Wests in 2000, was coached by him at Wests in 2003 and at Lower Hutt this season and i have noticed a calmer approach towards coaching.
He plans meticulously. We get a breakdown of the opposition each week and we adjust our tactics to offset any strengths/expose any weaknesses they may have. In training he drives people and they tend to feed off his spirit and love for the game. Like any coach, he gets a bit fired up sometimes but when your putting in time and effort, then people dont do the job they are supposed to, its warranted.
Ok maybe a bit long winded but thats my take on it.

Just for the record....if Jim Batty heard you called him a POM - he'll probably kick you in the b0llocks..... try a bit further north of the boarder......Willy Wallace country!
i'd have to 2nd Lanky Kev Thompson.....the ability to balance a Hiennie on his head thru out a whole training session is incredible!
Fred Goodwin was a very good coach. Once described to me as "somewhere between madness and genius". The Stop Out team that he coached in the mid-80s was amazing.
Maurice Tillotson is another coach I rate. I very much like the way he doesn't have a "one size fits all" approach to players.
When I played at Stop Out, this must be third-team and 1979 or 1980, I played under a coach named Tony Feinson. I guess he might have been too cerebral, catenaccio anyone, for some of the team but always entertaining. We once beat a team before we got on to the pitch. As we pulled up in the car he said that he thought the other team looked fragile. (Eh? Thought I. ) So he had us stay in the dressing room until just before kick off. Then he told us to leave our bags where they were, he'd look after that. and RUN out on to the pitch. Not walk or jog but RUN. We did. The other side, warming up, just stared at us. We won. Their coach said "my boys heads went down the moment you ran out like that".
English master,
Under 10-18,
Follows his players for years after.

Scott Senior at Lower Hutt is definitly the best man manager ive ever played under.Hes very good at accomadtaing for all kinds of personalties within a team and figures out how best to deal with any one person in a one on one situation. Hes always getting player input and using that as best he can and I would say thats why alot of players at the club dont mind playing for the second team every once an a while. With Besims Technical side of the game, they make a good pairing.
if thats you scotty, its matt h btw haha
