I currently work in a central Auckland pub/bar in Grey Lynn, and was thinking there is no where I know of that actually shows the Phoenix games etc?
So my proposal would be that we'd show all the home games with sound and might try get my boss to do a first 20 people in get a free pint if they have something Phoenix/Yellow Feverish on?
Just kinda thinking bout it here so nothing concrete etc feel free to add ya own ideas too.
We also do like Jugs of beer for $20, but they're 1.9L jugs so yeah.
But yeah anymore questions feel free to ask.

Yeah id be keen! Watched the nix once at the Kingslander in Kingsland but no sound etc.... Fox's ale house on the waterfront support alot of football i think.....although dont know about sound etc....watching the games without commentary would be frustrating,

It doesnt need to have discounts or special treats, as long as the place has beer, a big screen and doesnt show bumlickingball it�ll do.
If you get a regular group of people going the owner will soon understand the value and offer some perks.

Yeah I am talking about Malt, its in grey lynn well away from the CBD. Tonnes of free parking etc.

I'd be well keen for this, I'm a short walk away and I know a flat full of Phoenix fans who live within spitting distance of Malt.

It would be great to have a reasonably central venue and a permanent meeting place to watch the phoenix games!!

For their first game last year I stopped by at the Cadrona Ale House in Mt Eden near the prison and they had the phoenix game on their screens with commentary, anyone know if they still do this?  Its a very central location, close to buses, trains and lots of parking too.

Anyway, I talked to him tonight he was keen on the idea. We'd at least show all the home games with commentary hopefully depending on the time of the away games we'd could even be able to show the ones on sundays at least.
He mentioned making posters to distribute to local football clubs around central auckland, and even further out, so if you belong to a club and might be keen yourself spread the word.
He even said he might try get some on the YF website itself.
Also maybe even for the first home game we do 2 for 1 pints/jugs.
Anyway thats what i'll throw out for now, i might try get something else in the works for the end of the season ;o
Thoughts and comments would be appreciated, nothing is final yet of course but these are just ideas still but yeah.
As I said earlier, it is easily within walking distance from the grey lynn surrey cresent/gt north road shops.
Its the 025 024 027 bus from town. It has parking all around and is on 442 richmond road.

If you don't have a contact at Western Springs, I'll see if the club will let me put a poster or two up.
I don't know if we receive sponsorship from any competing bars or not, could be the only thorn in the side but if you give me a couple I'll ask if they can go up anyway.

Wolfben, I doubt it'll have sound but you never know, i'll check whos managing, I won't be working as I'll be in Wellington, but at the least they can have the TV on so its there, not sure about sound yet, will reply tomorrow.

the game with sound on Wednesday would be amazing. I'll guarantee you a bunch of punters. Does it get busy enough there on a Wednesday that a sound request would normally be denied?

Its just the dinner crowd that complain, cause we serve proper resturaunt food as well.
Could possibly have the sound on out back, the tv is smaller etc though. But you can smoke etc out there too, plus theres a fire and 2 heaters.
Will find out tomorrow for yas.

Game will be live inside or out not too sure yet with Commentary from 730pm onwards.
I won't be there as i'll be at the game but grab as many supporters as ya can to check it out.

My mate Dan is managing hes not that tall, short shaved brown head, hes a good bugger and he'll sort you guys out.

aparently a couple turned up I wasn't there. But first game of the season i'll hopefully be managing or at least working or drinking so hope some more turn up.

Nah we'll definitely be playing the sound for all sunday games. The others i'll have to suss out with dates etc. But I might ask to manage the shifts, so i'll be turning it on anyway, its only if I ain't working that there wouldn't be. But if i'm not working, i'll be up there watching it anyway.

I don't think its gonna go ahead at malt, we had more last week. Turnout was sh*te this week.
Shot to adam and the other guy don't know ya name. We'll show it, but without sound now. So yeah might need to suss another auckland venue. Otherwise my mates near malt is sounding like the best bet to watch it at haha.

Yeah turnout was beyond average today (I'm assuming I'm the other guy you're referring to, Joseph by the way). Surely we can find some seldom busy place that'd do anything three extra people on a Sunday... I worked at a rather struggling bar in Wellington that'd turn on sound for anyone with a dollar or two... We should track down some willing dive, it'd be nice for the Fever09 chapter to take off a little

- After going to Welly I've blown the best part of $200. I dont get paid til Thursday... and I had literally $15 to last the weekend.

- Its a bit far away.We're on the shore (and the very top of it at that) so getting all the way to New Lynn would be at least my $15 in petrol alone. A central auckland bar would be ideal.

if anyone is still reading this, i'd recommend heading down to The Queen's Ferry on Vulcan Lane. One of the managers there says he'll play the games with sound without fail so long as he's working - and has done for some time.

In other Auckland Phoenix news, does anyone else get Ponsonby News delivered and see the guy in the retro ricki on the front page? The article was irrelevant but made my day.

Also who wrote "Phoenix till I die" on the wall of the toilet at the wine cellar? I had scrawl "yellow army" next to it and break my no-toilet-graffiti rule.
