David Beckham and LA Galaxy have signed to play a one-off game against Sydney FC in November, it was announced on Tuesday.

Football Federation Australia secured the promotional coup, conditional on the participation of the English superstar, News Limited reported.

The match is scheduled for Sydney's Olympic Stadium on November 27 with FFA to spend the profits on the entire A-League.

Acting premier John Watkins said the deal, supported by the state government and Telstra Stadium, was a major coup for Sydney.

"In the world of sports entertainment there is no bigger name than David Beckham," he told News Limited.

LA Galaxy had planned an Asian tour but cancelled all but the Sydney leg.

Well considering you're a Sydney fan and you live over there I can't see whats stopping you. Except perhaps your mummy.

Yep, that is exactly what is stopping me. :p
The fact the game is in the middle of the week, I live a fair way from the stadium(2 hour drive) and she wants me to concentrate on school. :(

Oh well, still a lot of time between now and then, something may happen and I will be able to go.

I met Ian Wright at Newtown Park when I bunked off school to watch the England team train when they toured NZ in 1904 (I think it was).  I was wearing school uniform and he mocked it, then told me not to bother with school.

The Galaxy wouldn't want to play the Phoenix because they'd be scared of getting thumped.

We could probably trick them into thinking we play our home games in Arizona.

Beckham coming to Sydney wil attract loads to Aussie Stadium and can only be good for footy in this region. And promotes A-League awareness in the USA.

Should be a good game. Interesting to see the result as well. Hard to judge the standard of either competition in isolation.

You seriously want to compare an average MLS side to the Chinese national team?
