i would've said teambigfruit was a roslyn player?

as for age group how young would you start them? 16? you'd need players in there 20's as well or even older, kinda like what the a-league has done. is the player talent pool that big and would this help? not sure there may need to be other systems in place to make sure these guys will better off in this team than a club side.

It would have to be under 21's or similar to have a chance of having a good go at it

and if otago united was to be the parent club do they have the finances to run something like this?

some of the youth players are very good and some poor same as anywhere else. I agree a u20 team mite work, but the good u20 players will be playin spl for clubs who offer them a monetary incentive.

well it would have to offer something similar to what the other teams are offering to get the players on board and if it offered better coaches or training etc etc maybe that would be enough to lure them away from their clubs?

No club offers young players money - Horsehead more ridiculous comments. I think the young players playing and practicing with better older more experienced players is the only way they will get better.

Didn't Tech nd Cavy take U19 sides to Napier in recent years? How do you see what you're proposing as any different to what they have tried to achieve with getting these youngsters together as a side?

At the end of the day the only thing that is going to attract young players to Dunedin is the university. The top U17s and U20s in the country are most likely to try their hand overseas on trials, or more likely, at universities in the US. Which leaves Otago at best with second tier youth players, or home grown talent - which may turn up the odd quality player every other year, but not enough to build competitive youth teams around or develop a good senior squad (i.e. the good players then leave for greener pastures). Seems like the only solution is a top down regional approach that has the backing of NZ football and looks to link in with schools, clubs and perhaps a youth team leading into the National league team. Also some carrots like those Milk Cup trips.

I can only agree with you on that one Sneaky Butler - he sure did do a good job down at Tech and from what I understood at Otago United. Looks like they sure do miss his managment qualities at OU but again I would have to agree with feedback TM is a great manager and Tech are benefiting from that (soon Mornington AFC will be the benefactor).

He was the master of Shirt presentation prior to kick off , all shirts were on coat hangers and shorts and socks folded neatly , he also had  a knack of knowing where each player liked to sit in various changing rooms at grounds around the region

According to sources close to me, Nick Dale is back training with the tech outfit.  So all of the rumors of him going to varsity are out the window!  One of my sources told me that he over heard Fridge talking to Dale and he said "Its a pleasure to have you back at the club big guy!"

Top rumors still on the cards are as follows:

Rumor 1:  Liam McKinley has signed a pre contract at tech and is just waiting until he finishes his red card to go for his medical on tuesday.

Rumor 2:  Both GB superstars Ben Eder and Luke Macras are of to Caversham for an undisclosed fee.

Rumor 3:  Blair Schoullar is of to play for Roslyn because he is 'mates' with Terry Boylan

Yeh when i went to watch GB last year at the Grove all of last year Eder and Macras were the two lads who stood out for me.  Eder commanded the midfield and if it wasnt for him then i dont know how GB would have got any points at all!

I find it hard to believe that Ben Elder or Macreas would make that Cavvy team so I doubt this is true,I saw a lot of players dominate Mckenzie last year so that dosent make you a good player..

What's with the FACT... doesn't add anything to your statement.. just juvenile...

Technically Aaron Burgess is head and shoulders above the rest.
Aaron was at Northern Spirit (Glasgow Rangers were the owners, could be wrong), the Kingz asked to loan him for a season, (He turned them down because he was close to starting, saw an opportunity but didn't quite make it), played very well in the NSW Premier League. Chatham Cup medal and MVP in that game.

Come on HorseHead, unless you were trolling you have lost a bit of credibility...

Doesn't take a lot of researh to put validity to your claims horsehead.
I was told HB only just beat them which is saying a lot about them Rhyzar. You sound as one-eyed and arrogant as Jonathan's interviews.
Na, I was at the game mate OU were completely outclassed, never really troubled HBU. Some good players there tho, wouldn't be too despondent.
